Meet Trevor Hedges of Sundressed in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Hedges.

Trevor, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started writing songs as therapy when I first got sober ten years ago and quickly realized that this project would become my life. My bandmates, our friends and fans are all a community. Our shows are places where you can be yourself and find hope when you’re struggling. Happy to say we’ve played hundreds of shows all over the country and there are no plans of slowing down.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This being my first band, I had to learn everything by trial and error. I booked our first couple of years of touring before we got an agent. Lots of empty shows, lots of canceled shows, but we still had fun. We even had all our equipment stolen in Salt Lake City in 2016. We’ve been through a lot, but like our drummer, Vic says “The worst day on tour is better than the best day at your day job back home”

Please tell us about your music.
We are a band that is trying to create a community. I’m very proud of our songs and what they have meant to me as well as a lot of other people. It’s all about getting better and I get to make a soundtrack of my personal experience going through that.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I definitely would have tried to not worry so much and remember why I loved music in the first place. It’s a tough industry. There are always ups and downs and all you can control is your authenticity and how hard you’re willing to work.
