Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Whitney.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Travis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since childhood, I was always fascinated with both science and magic. I was drawn to the magic of healing the body naturally very early on. Towards my late teen years I became entranced with anything Eastern philosophy and martial arts, I’d read and study anything I could regarding Qigong, meditation, yoga, Eastern philosophies and religions, and different martial arts. I’d use exercise, herbs, and energetic modalities to heal myself. So early on I gravitated towards ways to heal and optimize the body naturally.
After a few different careers in my twenties, an open-water rescue lifeguard, business owner, and U.S. Army Infantry Officer, I started to pursue medicine. My bachelor’s degree is in Psychology with a minor in Philosophical and Religious Studies. I was doing a lot of research in a field called Neurotheology, so I was looking to get into neuroscience Ph.D. programs.
I was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, FL so I was looking for a change of pace and different experiences. After leaving the Army I moved to Portland, OR for a change in life. While there I was in the middle of an interview process with the FBI to become an agent when I discovered Naturopathic Medicine. I was accepted to The National University of Natural Medicine and started both a doctorate program in medicine and a Master’s degree in Integrative Medical Research.
During my second year of med school, I began shadowing a doctor, Dr. David Milroy, outside of school. Being an over-achiever I wanted to learn as much as I could as fast as I could. My first area of study focused on obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and hormonal disorders, which are areas Dr. Milroy specialized in. While at his office one day he had a few of these cases but had about a dozen other patients on his schedule for Prolotherapy. I asked him about it and he simply said, “it’s an injection therapy to proliferate tissue growth.”
After hearing his patients’ stories that day I was compelled to study this amazing modality of medicine that was eliminating people’s chronic pains. I started practice injection therapies while in school and attended conferences and training when I could. I’d made a name for myself before even graduating school as an ‘expert’ in orthopedic conditions and excelled in our clinical rotations. Flash forward to after graduating med school I was hired to practice Prolotherapy and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy at a clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. Shortly after moving to AZ I started and graduated with a Masters program in Chinese Medicine at Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, I opened my practice, Innate Healthcare, which incorporated Regenerative, Naturopathic and Chinese Medicine. I’ve always been more of an integrative practitioner, using both pharmaceutical and technological advancements as well as natural medicines.
My expertise in treating painful orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions garnished the attention of a company that specialized in Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy. I split time between running my practice and practicing as an independent contractor performing stem cell therapy. The results I started seeing using stem cell therapy blew me away. I’d had success before but hadn’t gotten as quick or prolific results as to when I started using stem cell medicine.
Today, after working in the fields of Regenerative, Naturopathic, Functional, and Chinese medicine for years, I primarily work as a Regenerative Stem Cell specialist. I’ve developed protocols for a myriad of conditions and consult for doctors across the country. My main focus is Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy while incorporating other healing arts I’ve learned over the years. I’ve had successful treatments ranging from small childhood seizure disorders, to COPD, to heart disease, to autism, erectile dysfunction, and lots and lots of back, knee, shoulder, and nerve pains. I’ve also done cosmetic treatments with stem cell therapy.
The results I’ve gotten with my protocols have been life changing for many people. I’ve gotten some wonderful testimonials which can be seen on the Innate Healthcare YouTube channel as well as my website (https://innatehealthcare.org/testimonials/). My practice is particularly known for making Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy affordable without compromising treatment efficacy. I do procedures for an average of $10,000 less than similar clinics practicing stem cell medicine.
Has it been a smooth road?
Failure is a necessity for success. I’ve hit roadblocks along the way. Owning and operating a business is hard work, there’s not only taking care of patients but all the other aspects like marketing, managing personnel, and finding time to take care of yourself. Let alone trying to practice as many kinds of medicine as I have studied. Constant stress from work takes a toll on the body, so I strive to find the balance now. Making medicine more affordable means you have to work more to get the kind of income to run a business and take care of myself and my family. But I strongly believe in the long run that life-changing results of more and more people will help reshape how medicine, particularly stem cell medicine, is practiced.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do feel that Phoenix could be a good place for healthcare. It’s very competitive so I’d recommend looking around to see exactly what you’re wanting to do if a lot of others are doing it, what separates you from the others. I think starting in the surrounding areas might be easier for starting. it’s something I reflect if I should have done and still consider it occasionally.
