Today we’d like to introduce you to Timpani Woodson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Timpani. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Back in 2013, I studied abroad in London and the thing to do when you studied abroad was start a blog.. I figured it would be a good way to document my time in England and keep my family updated, so I started My Little Life Blog. On there, I shared my everyday life in London and some travels. I was in London for 9 months, which provided me with lots of content; however, it was a completely different story when I got back home. My life, to put it bluntly, taking a nosedive in the excitement department. So, with the lack of content making opportunities, I said goodbye to My Little Life Blog.
My desire to start blogging again hit me in 2017. I was working somewhere I hated, which made me really think about what I’d like to do. Ultimately, I wanted a job that granted me freedom and utilized my journalism and PR degree. After some deliberation, I realized that blogging might be the answer. I bought a hosting plan and a domain and Like the Drum was born.
On Like the Drum, I share my life and travels. People who visit my blog can read about everything from trips I’ve taken to product reviews. It’s a creative outlet for me and I love sharing my experiences.
It’ll definitely take time to grow Like the Drum to where it can be my full-time job, but nothing happens overnight.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been pretty smooth thus far. I’m just starting out myself, but my advice to other women would be to just start. Don’t put it off till later. Don’t wait till the timing seems right. Just start because all that time you wasted not going for what you want, you could be that much closer to having it.
We’d love to hear more about Like the Drum.
I’m am the blogger/content creator behind Like the Drum. Right now my blog mostly focuses on my travels and general life, but it will soon include beauty and fashion related pieces as well.
I choose to share my experiences via Like the Drum because I want to inspire people. When I read other blogs, especially ones about traveling, it makes me want to go out into the world and see it for myself. I want people to leave my blog feeling the same way, I want it to be a source of inspiration.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
There’s no sense spending your life doing something you don’t enjoy. If you’re doing something you don’t love, consider moving on to something else. It’s okay to pursue happiness.
