Meet Trailblazer Tarna Freeman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarna Freeman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tarna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in AZ raised in Illinois. I have four brothers and spent my childhood riding dirt bikes and playing outside with the boys! After graduating from highschool, I joined the US Navy and was stationed on an aircraft carrier in San Diego. After going on deployment, I came back struggling with depression and PTSD. With the help of other women veterans, I was able to recover and became set on a path to help others feel good about themselves, inside and out.

After coming back home, I just wanted to be a girly girl! I started researching aesthetic schools after a night of pampering and face masks with my mom! I enrolled at Imaj Institute in Scottsdale shortly after and obtained my aesthetician’s license and laser certification in 2013.

It was at Imaj that I met a woman who would introduce me to the world of eyelash extensions! I became obsessed with my new world of glamour! I began my journey at ItGirlDiva studio and completed further training in Chicago, Illinois for the advanced “volume” technique, which I currently specialize in.
By the end of 2015, I was ready to proceed on my own, creating BEAUTYFLO LLC, and traveling to Canada to learn my latest obsession microblading! Microblading is a form of permanent makeup for eyebrows!

At my studio, it is my intention to create beautiful lashes and brows for each client who enters my doors! I pride myself in providing consistent results while instilling confidence that maintains the foundation for enrichment and success.

My motto is, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” I love learning as much as I can and staying on top of the latest innovations as well as pioneering new methods! I’m extremely blessed to be able to create every day and my next goal is to complete a Nurse Practitioner degree to continue to help others in the health and wellness field.

I am relocating from McCormick Ranch to Scottsdale Ranch as of April 1 with my beautiful 4-year-old son Liam and look forward to the incredible women I’ll meet this year!

Has it been a smooth road?
While dedication and hard work most certainly always pays off, it’s not always the easiest! There were many times where I struggled with my own insecurities and that was when my industry was just getting noticed and interested in. Nowadays, the competition is paramount and people have this unrelenting desire to have thousands of followers and all this recognition, but don’t always understand the blood, sweat, and tears those who have achieved that level of success, have given and still give day in and day out. I measure my own achievement by the time I’ve put into my craft, continuing education, and maintaining a full book of clients.

There was a time when I took four hours to do a full set of lashes and I still compare my photos to others in the industry especially with microblading, but know that everyone has to start somewhere, and at one time even the masters were beginners. Don’t give up and keep practicing! As they say: practice makes perfect!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a licensed medical aesthetician, and have several laser certifications as well as microblading permanent makeup for eyebrows!

I specialize in eyelash extensions and permanent makeup. I am most known for my fluffy volume technique for lashes and for lashes that last. My client’s number one comment is that they love how long they last! It’s all in the application and clients own aftercare!

As a beauty service provider, I’m most proud to instill confidence among women and help others to realize their full potential while looking and feeling their best!

What sets me apart from the rest is that I don’t do cookie cutter services. I customize each service to the individual’s needs and preferences while adding my own creative touch to produce truly stunning results.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
The women that have inspired me the most are all of the mothers of my closest friends growing up. For a while during my high school career, I was unable to live at home and if it weren’t for these incredibly generous women, I don’t know where I would be! They took me in as if I was their own and made sure that I never went without and to have the courage to face the struggles life can deal you.

Another was my RDC officer at Naval boot camp. She was one tough woman! She taught me to be self-aware and to not lose face under pressure.

Last but not least, the majority of my clientele are women, and day after day, I am permitted a glimpse into their lives and am constantly reminded why I chose to help them feel beautiful and knowing that I accomplish that is incredibly rewarding.
