Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherah Williams.

Sherah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hi! I’m the owner of Sol Skin and permanent makeup. I started in this industry in 2002. I love making others feel better about themselves, whether by achieving great skin results or permanent makeup. While I was licensed in 2002, I took a break from the industry to stay home with my 3 kids. I always kept my licenses and eduction current, however. And once they were all in school, I came back with fresh energy ready to go.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This industry has become very saturated. With the addition of social media, it can get intense. Some use their social media to bash others in the industry, but I feel if your work and business ethics is great it will speak for itself and you won’t have to put others down to make yourself look better. Always do you and do it great!

We’d love to hear more about Sol Skin.
Being a solo business owner, I only offer a few things. Things that I personally love such as micro-needling, dermaplaning, and probably my most popular, permanent makeup. Microblading has been a huge part of my business. I have spent countless hours, travels and money learning the best there is in permanent makeup to give my clients the best options.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have reached out many times to others that I feel are doing great. Sometimes, to just let them know they’re doing awesome and sometimes for advice. I believe in karma and what goes around comes around. We are never too good to learn and learn from others. Be helpful, be respectful, be kind!
