Meet Trailblazer Shasta N. Broadus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shasta N. Broadus.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shasta. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. By 13, I started a babysitters club in my apartment complex with two of my girlfriends. It was short lived due to school and sports but at a young age, I understood capitalism, economics, marketing, and skill. When I turned 18, I chose the medical route and got my medical administrative certificate. I have had all types of jobs in the medical field; front office coordinator, referral coordinator, and lastly insurance verification. Although, the medical industry was considered a good career move and I was helping people, I didn’t feel like I was making a direct impact. I never wanted to have a “job.” I wanted to help others and create my own organization I just didn’t know how or what I would be selling.

I moved to Phoenix, AZ from San Diego, CA back in September 2015 to pursue my business endeavors. I launched Connect the Dots in 2017 by hosting networking events educating business owners on business succession planning. Through networking and connecting the dots literally, we partnered with Dream Realty Investments in July of 2018 and we have grown to be a full-service marketing and business development consulting agency. We have over 30 years of sales, marketing, and business experience at our helm. I myself have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology 2 insurance licenses and my last 10years of work history is in financial services. While going to school for my bachelor’s degree I worked at Nordstrom and really understood their motto “Use your best judgment” and honed in on my customer service skills. Nordstrom is extremely customer service oriented and It was during that time that I really learned how to build rapport with people and make them feel good about themselves. While in school at the University of Phoenix, I began selling auto and home insurance and it was there that I was introduced to life and health insurance as financial instruments. I then chose the path of financial services, protection, wealth accumulation, debt management, and wealth management and I really began to understand how insurance and proper planning worked and the benefits. I took to educating business owners about their business succession plan and this is how I launched my organization Connect the Dots. I am currently in the process of completing my Masters In Organizational Leadership as the corporate workplace is definitely changing and I would like to be on the wave of producing great leaders and stewards of the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road. Lots of turbulence and changes that I didn’t see coming. Most struggles have been getting past the naysayers, overcoming bad habits, staying disciplined and not letting people, places or things aka situations and circumstances dictate your end result.

Stay committed to what you believe in even when no one else does. Things will happen that will slow you down, distract you and even having you questioning if you’re capable BUT you have to dig deep and know that you are taking steps in the right direction every day, even if it doesn’t look how you THINK it should or would look at the time. Create a plan and be flexible enough to make the necessary adjustments.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
In my life, my aunts and any woman who have overcome adversity and obstacles have always inspired me. Any woman who defies the odds and makes a way for herself is an inspiration in my eyes.
