Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Campbell.
Shannon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Allentown, PA and I went to a Catholic School for grade school. I had to wear uniform grades 1- 8… as I started getting older – I found a love for fashion and clothes. Whether it be Church on Sunday or a birthday party – I always had to be styled back then from head to toe. So, when it came to high school – my parents said I could go to a public school or Catholic school. Ughhhh catholic school meant another four years of uniforms… no thanks – I opted for public school so I can wear whatever I wanted to!! So, instead of spending nights on academics, I would spend my time preparing my “look” for the next day. Everyone said it was like a different fashion show every day to see what I would be wearing – hence this was the start of my fashion career!!!!
After graduating, I moved to New York and went to college at the Fashion Institute of Technology. It was so amazing – I was like a kid in a candy store. During school, I worked backstage at New York Fashion Week with all the top designers – Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrara, Donna Karan, and Tommy Hilfiger to name a few!! And after graduation, I worked as an intern at VH-1, back in the day when they had VJs and I was a fashion stylist for the Veejays! When I got into the “real world”… I was a booking agent at a modeling agency, I worked at a fashion public relations agency, and also working as Roger Ailes assistant at the Fox News Channel, and the last few years in New York I worked at FORD Models, and was the chaperone at the model’s apartment. Got to live rent-free in at the time a $5000 a month penthouse loft apartment with a skyline view of the city – and taking care of girls that come to model with FORD from all over the world!! I loved New York – has amazing experiences… but I was ready to not have so much hustle and bustle anymore. My mom lived in Arizona and I would visit her on holidays, vacations, etc. so I thought time to head to the sunshine, I was only going to be in Arizona for three months and live in LA… but 19 years later, still in Arizona!
So, since I have been here, I had really dived into the fashion world and have done anything and everything!!!! It’s been a lot of really hard work but such a fun ride!!
Most recently, I started my own PR company – I will be leaving for Miami on July 10th to do PR for Aguaclara Swimwear for the second week in a row for Miami Swim Week.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My job is DEFINITELY not as glamorous as it seems!! And no – not a smooth road.
And it’s true what they say about New York – if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere!
Looking back, I can say that I really pounded the pavement – and I did anything and everything to get involved and get experience and start making a name for myself. No one ever handed me anything – all my contacts, business relationships, achievements – all came from not giving up, giving my all, and keeping my head down and focusing on the task at hand.
Anyone who is starting their journey – I would say to do it, and not let anything get in your way but just know it’s not easy and you just have to buckle down and work!!!
I always laugh when I have fashion students contact me and say – oh, I want to do what you do… so what do I need to do??? Can I have your contacts??? LOL. Doesn’t work that way…
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
So, what dont I do – LOL. I am a wardrobe stylist, graphic designer, personal shopper, fashion show producer, fashion editor, interior designer, public relations consultant, creative director, tv fashion correspondent…
I would say as of late Im really focusing on my television segments. You can see me on Fox 10, Channel 3 Good Morning Arizona, AZ Daily Mix, ABC 15…
And I am starting to add more clients to my PR company so that is exciting that it is growing and doing well!!
I think what has set me apart is to always be humble, real and appreciative. I always thank people for the opportunities I have been given, and I am also a huge dork and make people laugh – a lot!!
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
I think a lot of women are afraid – afraid to make a change, afraid to fail, just afraid – society a lot of pressure on us!!!!!
But you know what?? If something doesn’t scare you a little, rarely is it worth doing. The sensation we label fear – a racing heart, sweaty palms, aching belly – can signal that danger looms ahead, but just as importantly, it signals we are on the cusp of doing something great.
Let’s support each other, cheer each other on, celebrate in our successes together in be there when there are fails!!
