Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanita Patterson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shanita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been a gym rat and just loved lifting weights. My career took me the long route to being a personal trainer by starting in human resources. I felt like something was missing so I did my first figure competitors in 2012 and I was in it for the long run. I started my business Fit U Fab U Fitness and later started working for my Coach at AzBodybuilding in Tempe. I’ve been transforming individuals for several years and the joy of seeing their faces after they have crushed their Fitness goals is priceless. I love competing and I love what I do, creating Bad BAD BANGING. 🙂
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main struggle for me was me. It’s easy to doubt yourself and compare yourself to other people. What I’ve learned is I’m unique and nobody can do what I can because there’s only one me. You have to learn to believe in yourself and your goals as that’s all that matters.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m an ISSA CERTIFIED Personal Trainer who loves transforming women into the woman they’ve always wanted to be but just needed that push. I often tell mmt clients that words are very powerful and you have to be careful how you use them. I believe I’m different from other trainers because I take the time to hear what my client wants and then we build realistic goals and we achieve them. I’ve developed some long-lasting friendships during this process and I look forward to building many more by showing and being a real person and setting realistic goals.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Believe in yourself and you are only competing with yourself.
