Meet Trailblazer Ryen Eveld

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryen Eveld.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the Creative Director for Spellbound Entertainment Group in Scottsdale, Arizona. I have been with the company for almost six years. Throughout my life, I have expressed creativity in all outlets, dance, cooking, art, and writing. Two years ago, I decided to take all aspects of my creative side and start a fashion & lifestyle blog titled Collateral Beauty. This is where I share styling tips and bring awareness to brands across the world. My work life is always busy overseeing marketing and creative projects with five different nightclub and bars in Old Town Scottsdale. Each year, my role evolves and I hope to continue to do that in all ventures of my life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I first started out in the nightlife industry, I was only 19 years old and didn’t have much direction for my career. Almost six years later and I truly feel I am where I’m supposed to be in my life. It is so important at a young age to keep your mind open to different possibilities involving your future. You never know where one road will lead you. I have had many paths take me to places I didn’t expect and for that, I am stronger and more educated.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My day to day is non-traditional with my position as Creative Director for Spellbound Entertainment Group. Although I work a 9-5 during the week, my job takes me all over town and with sometimes crazy hours. During the week, I plan all of our big holidays, special themed events and work with our graphic design team on weekly content for social media. Being on site at the clubs is one of my favorite parts of my job. Seeing all of your planning come to fruition is the most rewarding part of long hours and stressful days. On top of constant planning and creating, I also run some of our social media accounts. It always keeps me on my toes staying up to date with social trends.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
There is something truly invaluable about a “woman’s touch”, especially in creative roles. As females, we are often raised with compassion and to think of others first. These traits come in handy when you need the finer details worked out. We have an eye for conceptualizing beautiful pictures, maybe that stems from us planning our weddings when we are little, but it truly shines through when planning events, parties or designing eye-catching art.
