Meet Trailblazer Penny Schnitzius

Today we’d like to introduce you to Penny Schnitzius.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Penny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started doing nails when I was 15 after my mom recommended I attend nail school. I would do anyone and everyone’s nails just to get better. I learned a lot from every nail tech I worked with. Moving to Arizona four years ago took my career to the next level. Hard work and repetition really pays off! You can do anything that if you just put your mind to it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road lots of trials and tribulations. But in order to appreciate things, you have to go through those trials, you don’t get better if you don’t go through things that are just life’s journey. Especially after having children, I had to put my career on hold but eventually, was able to get back into doing nails because it’s passion. My advice to young women is to keep your heads up if it’s what you really want to do and it makes you happy, keep doing it, you can do anything that you put your mind to.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a nail tech at the hills salon and spa in North Scottsdale. I specialize in acrylics, hard gel, gel manicures, pedicures, and nail art. I am known for the designs that I create on acrylic nails. I’m proud that through all the downfalls I’ve gone through I always pick myself back up and reinvent my brand! What Sets me apart is that I’m all about keeping the Integrity of your nails.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Social media has worked a lot. My nails are always done, so when I go out, people are always like, omg, I love your nails! So, I’m a walking billboard.
