Meet Trailblazer Pamela Hardwick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Hardwick.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The first memory of myself feeling beautiful happened when I was 12 years old. I went into my grandmother’s bathroom and found the most glamorous red lipstick I had ever seen. I made sure the bathroom door was locked because I figured I would get into big trouble if I was caught wearing lipstick at this age. It was in that moment of putting on the lipstick that I knew I would most definitely be rocking red lips when I was old enough.

There is a certain level of confidence that accompanies a woman with a bold lip or eye.

At age 21, I made the decision to further my passion for makeup and skincare as I started working at a makeup counter and freelancing on the weekends.

As the years went by, I realized I wanted to learn more about skincare and envisioned myself helping women feel beautiful beyond just what makeup can do.

I went to school and became a licensed esthetician in 1998. This is where I met my friend and mentor and the woman I would eventually proceed in business.

I never thought of myself as an entrepreneur. The word itself scares me because it means I have to make all the decisions. I have to pay the bills, I have to be responsible for everything involving my business if something goes wrong.

The one thing I didn’t consider initially was that I also had the drive and the power to have an incredibly successful business if I just gave myself a little grace and worked hard doing what I was gifted to do. Make women feel beautiful and share my knowledge as I continued to grow and expand. I never want to hold on to anything I’ve learned along the way but it exhilarates me to share and grow with my client friends.

In 2013, I started my career as a business owner when I purchased a successful skin care business from the woman who inspired me to venture into being an entrepreneur. It took me a few years to become confident in myself and really understand that this is now my business and I can move forward in any direction I feel encouraged to.

The beauty of growth is understanding it’s all a process. I understand that there will always be change and growth.

I want to take full advantage of the industry that I have been so fortunate and blessed to be a part of. Spreading my passion for skincare, facial treatments, makeup and beyond excite me to no end. My focus is to continue growing my business with women and men of all ages. I envision myself creating courses and working online with individuals and educating for many years to come.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can say with all honesty that I really had no expectations as a young adult to become successful at any one thing. I have tried to find joy in all phases of life and to me, that has brought me happiness and relationships that I wouldn’t change for anything and that ultimately brought me to this place as a business owner.

I believe contentment along with drive and motivation is the key to progress. Are there women who are further along than me at my age, yes, but my journey is exactly right for me personally.

I am able to resonate with women of all ages because my life experience is such a part of my personality and my business.

It makes me happy to see women 20 years younger than myself trailblazing like a boss.

Fearlessness is a wonderful trait. Finding a purpose and focus is easier for some people than others. If you feel lost in your purpose, you’re not alone. Just be persistent and try to enjoy where you are today because I promise in some way, it is setting you up for what’s to come.

I have been in a place of true reflection over the past year and a half. All the preparation of being a happy go lucky person that enjoys taking risks and thrives off of reaching for more has brought me to a place of pondering. What brings me the most happiness and fulfillment?

I definitely know that I love variety. I need to use my creative brain as much as I desire to learn about products and ingredients and investigating my client’s skin and searching for ways to best serve them.

Building relationships with my clients bring the most satisfaction to where I am today. Pushing myself to learn new treatments and trying to continue to perfect the services I’ve built my business on to this point.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a skin care professional that specializes in a number of different treatments. It is my desire to continuously grow and practice a variety of services. Starting out, I specialized and really focused on being a great facialist. In the past few years, I have added services like micro needling, microblading, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, holistic peels, and facials, waxing, lash lift, brow and lash tinting.

These are treatments I perform in my salon.
Outside of the salon, I schedule FaceTime consultations with new clients and am currently working to build a social media following. It is my long term goal to work with clients remotely to assist them with their skin care needs and create classes for aspiring skincare professionals and business owners.

I am most proud of the relationships I have built with my clients over the last 6+ years.
Having a trustworthy relationship with my clients is what drives me to continue to strive for more and try new things.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Without a doubt, I think this is the most opportunistic time in history for women to go for their dreams.

I have not had a single glimmer of doubt that I wouldn’t be able to make my dream a reality based on me being a woman.

I’m sure in some career fields, the resistance may be there but as an esthetician and skincare and makeup professional. It has been full speed ahead.
