Meet Trailblazer Nichole Maddox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Maddox.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nichole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been blogging and creating videos since 2015, but never really took it seriously until now. Over the last four years, I was more focused on growing in my career as a news producer. I currently work as a content creator and producer for Fox 10 Phoenix. But recently, I decided I wanted to start focusing on growing my brand more and doing what I love to do, create content for my followers. I became a mom in 2017, and that drove me to focus more on building my own brand so I can focus more on my family. As I adjusted to being a new mom and a full-time worker, it was becoming increasingly hard for me to learn to balance work life and professional life. So, last November, I decided to rebrand myself and focus on creating youtube videos as well as rebrand my blog. I have watched my channel grow and hope to continue to grow it along with my blog so they can become my full-time jobs. It hasn’t been an easy process, but I have learned to keep my faith in God and follow his plan. I have slowly invested in myself little by little and did a lot of research to get to where I am today. Because of that, I have been able to grow my brand more and more each day.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to becoming your own boss is not easy. It can be frustrating, discouraging, and scary. I have struggled with being consistent and treating this like a business for the longest time. But I decided that had to change if I wanted to become more than just a blogger for fun. When you decide to be your own boss, you have to treat your brand or whatever it is you’re working on as a full-time business. You cannot neglect it. I give myself deadlines, and act like I’m already making money. If you want to be your own boss, just do it. Don’t let people tell you what you cannot do. Be passionate about your work because people will appreciate that more. Don’t think about the money, think about the fun you will have doing what you love to do. If you are just starting this journey, stick with it. There will be hard times, but the end result will be worth it. Stay motivated, ambitious, and focused!

We’d love to hear more about Nichole Knows Life.
Right now, I work full time at Fox 10 Phoenix. But as for my own brand, I am a lifestyle blogger and create lifestyle, beauty, and fashion videos on my YouTube channel. I am known for having fun and trying new things. I want my brand to inspire young women who are scared to come out of their shells because that was me before. I am most proud of putting myself out there and going after what I envisioned for my brand. There are so many people who do much of the same thing, but for me, I wanted to be different. I wanted to create content that makes people want to go out and achieve their dreams, not just try on makeup. I’m no guru, but I want young women to feel like they belong too and they can capitalize on their passions as well.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
The main thing I feel played a major role in my success was the fact that my parents traveled with me so that I can try new things. When my mom took me to New York City, we visited NBC Studios and I fell in love with journalism. Really, I fell in love with storytelling. I was always a creative person. From writing poems to drawing portraits and cartoons, I loved creating content. So, it was only natural for me to create a blog and learn to shoot and edit videos.
