Meet Trailblazer Meghan Blanchard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Blanchard.

Meghan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Mighty Soul was actually born from the health and fitness network marketing company I started my coaching career within March of 2016. I had been interested in health and fitness, and holistic healing since I started struggling with my body image and anxiety in college, and I spent the next 11 years experimenting, researching, and educating myself in the field of health and wellness, as well as psychology. During that time, I struggled to figure out what I really wanted to do with my life, so when I was offered the opportunity to coach women in the health and fitness world, I jumped on it. Helping others has always been in my zone of genius so it was perfect. About a year and a half into trying to build a business in this network marketing space, I realized something was no longer feeling aligned. Although I was inspiring others, I wasn’t doing it at the level I wanted to. I had to take a step back, and in doing so I was able to uncover the things I needed to heal within myself to be able to move forward in building a business that felt good to me. I had to get real with myself about the fact that even though I was in this space of “health”, I was still struggling with body image issues, and I had developed disordered eating patterns… and I needed to work through them if I wanted to evolve in my life and in my business. So, in October of 2017, I broke out of network marketing and decided to create my own independent business which is now Mighty Soul Health. I went through the process of becoming certified as a Mind and Body Eating coach through the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, healed my relationship with food and my body, and now, I am helping other women do the same; more particularly, women who are also healers in the health and wellness world!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, haha, no, it has not been a smooth road. Healing in this arena is messy because we are surrounded by a culture that makes us believe that focusing on our bodies as a problem, and also the solution to our problems, is the ticket to health and happiness. So, breaking free of that concept takes work. Something most people don’t realize is the unwanted behaviors we struggle with such as binge or emotional eating, are only a side effect of not being connected to who we are and what our bodies really need. We suffer because we create identities for ourselves based on messages we receive from the outside, and that is what causes suffering. But healing CAN happen, and it is beautiful when it does. It just takes a lot of unlearning, patience, and time. Something I would say to someone just starting their journey to healing their relationship with food and self is to be patient and have faith… because even if freedom and healing may seem impossible now, it WILL happen if you do the work

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mighty Soul Health – what should we know?
Yay! So I have been certified as a mind and body eating coach through the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, but my official title is Wellness and Mindset Coach. I help women heal their relationships with food and step into their natural state of love and truth so they can help/inspire other women to do the same. I work mainly with women already in the health and fitness/wellness space like I was, whether it be as a coach, influencer, or someone who is just passionate about self-discovery and inspiring others.

I am most proud of my authenticity and empathy. I have lived through most of the unwanted thoughts. feelings, and behaviors that my clients experience, so in my practice, I am able to truly connect and offer love and support from a place of true understanding. My superpowers are listening, holding a safe, non-judgmental space for healing, and offering a fresh perspective.

I am obsessed with what I do.
It is literally the love of my life (aside from my lab).

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Yes! Oh, so many good ones.

Books:

“The Goddess Revolution” by Mel Wells was my introduction to breaking away from diet culture and learning how to step into self-love. I recommend this to anyone just starting their journey.

“Adventures for your Soul” by Shannon Kaiser is amazing as well.

“The Love Food Podcast” is great for food-related challenges

As is “The No Sugarcoating” podcast.

The “Calm” app is AMAZING for meditation and mindfulness. It even has a mindful eating meditation series!
