Meet Trailblazer Megan Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Wilson.

Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all began when I swiped on that killer blue Estee Lauder eyeshadow of my mom’s as a little girl. I was hooked! Growing up in Peoria, AZ has been a quiet, suburban lifestyle but my creativity through fashion, makeup, costume, and blogging made it so much more. Makeup artistry and expanding my knowledge truly started in high school. I’m a self-taught makeup artist, as well as trained by SeneGence International through the MUA program two years ago. I am so grateful to have been trained by Hollywood makeup artists, worked with stellar photographers, and styled amazing models. I absolutely love helping clients highlight their natural beauty and end their glam session with the biggest smile, but I also enjoy teaching glamour clinics full of makeup techniques & tips for the everygirl to feel confident.

My background is in education and my passion is to always bring creativity in everything that I do. I have a passion for education and empowering others to find their fashion personalities and beauty styles. As a film buff, movies inspired me first with on-screen heroines and unique characters rockin’ some serious face. Since then, I am always discovering new styles and embracing learning the latest techniques and trends. My makeup artistry experience consists of photo shoots, master classes, bridal, and special events with a variety of aesthetics.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have definitely faced challenges along my journey but learned so much more about the level of perseverance it takes to be a boss babe. Mindset is everything. This is not my first profession and juggling multiple jobs can be a struggle at times when you can only stretch yourself so far. Ultimately, it is all worth it. Consistency is one of the most important things I have learned. I encourage others to map out short and long term goals when first getting started. In this field, branding and aesthetic are key to attract your ultimate client. Always remember to have fun and love what you do.

My clients and customers keep me going! I am the founder of Maison of Beauty featuring an online marketplace to service all of your skincare and makeup needs. I pride myself in curating beauty capsules and helping others discover products that work. I continue to grow my business, set goals, and above all, ignite that creativity.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
In this world of entrepreneurs, it is important for women to support one another. I seek out building connections with those ready to invest in me and themselves. I am thankful I can provide an opportunity for women to build an empire and their own small business. I enjoy taking on the role of coach and leader for other women.
