Meet Trailblazer Linn Haveron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linn Haveron.

Linn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I remember the very first time I was allowed to wear lipstick out of the house. I was 8 or 9 and my mom let me put on a burgundy shade. When I saw myself in the mirror, I felt so empowered and beautiful! All things beauty has made me feel that way ever since.

I went to cosmetology school a couple of years after high school and haven’t looked back since. While in school, I meant a beautiful soul named Lealai who’s makeup talent further inspired me to pursue makeup. My very first job in the beauty industry was at Sephora while still in beauty school. I learned as many tips and tricks about makeup I could.

After graduating and getting my cosmo license I went to work as a makeup artist in Scottsdale.

Now, I am currently working as an esthetician at an Ulta location and a freelance makeup artist.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh heck, no!! Being an artist there is always going to be someone who doesn’t like your work. In the beginning, that happened a lot. Turned away from photo shoots or a bride to be. It hurts a little a first but be persistent. There will always be imperfections in the road, but with a little elbow grease ain’t nothing we can’t blend out! (Mua joke… cause we blend.) You can only get better from here.

I am a skin therapist for Ulta and a freelance MUA in my free time. I specialize in bold alternative makeup looks. What sets me apart is the true passion I put into my work.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I feel like there are always opportunities for women!! I believe that women can do ANY job she puts her mind and hard work into.
