Today we’d like to introduce you to Ling Zhu.
Ling, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became a REALTOR® because my husband works in the mortgage industry. I started with no connections in the city and was worried about how to be a professional REALTOR®. I wanted to ensure that I could really help home buyers and sellers with their goals. I don’t want to just be the typical person who has a real estate license. My broker provided me with extremely detailed and hands-on training to help me get very good at making a successful transaction happen.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. English is not my first language. I beat myself up for not speaking perfect English. I was worried that my clients would not understand me for no reason. I did find a way to conquer the fear in my mind. I started to drink a ton. Just kidding. The secret is affirmation! I admit my fears to myself, write down all my fears, and find evidence to prove I can do the job. The fears are just in my mind!
It is always hard to start a new journey that you are not familiar with. The key to success is to be consistent. Hang on there a little longer and follow your own agenda. You need to be your own biggest cheerleader.

I am a REALTOR® in the Phoenix Metro Area. I specialize in residential real estate transactions such as: Representing experienced buyers and sellers, First Time home buyers and sellers, Second Homes and Vacation Properties, Investment Properties, Inter, and Intra State Relocating, and Special Circumstances selling. Additionally, I have spent many hours honing my craft by taking the following additional Designations and I am Nationally Recognized as having additional proficiencies in the following:
CNE (Certified Negotiation Expert)
Home buyers and sellers believe negotiation skills are very important. A skilled negotiator can get you a better deal. A Negotiation is not always about the price. It can be anything that is important to the home sellers or buyers. By using the Certified Negotiation Expert Approach I am able to deliver superior outcomes for my clients.
MRP (Military Relocation Professional)
Working with current and former military service members to find the housing solutions that best suit their needs and help them to take full advantage of their military benefits and support. The MRP designation taught me how to provide better real estate service at any stage in the service member’s military career.
SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist)
The Seniors Real Estate Specialist Designation course helped me understand how to work and communicate with 50+. I understand their unique and specific needs which can be, however not limited to any of the following: Reverse Mortgages, Fixed Income, Medical Concerns future and or present, short or long term housing, Trust and Estate planning, and dealing with family members who are interested parties in the transaction. With a large contingent of the retiree’s in the metro Phoenix area, I have found this knowledge invaluable in presenting clear and consistent communication to all of the involved parties.
I am happy that I am constantly learning new skills so I can serve my clients better. I am so proud that I have a great work ethic and I always work with my clients’ best interests in mind. I will go the extra mile to help my clients achieve all of their goals.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
One opportunity that women are well positioned for is in the field of sales. There has been a lot of media attention recently regarding the gender pay gap between men and women. In sales, you are based purely on your performance and ability. The sales field is generally male heavy, however, many of the top salespersons are women. I believe that there is a lot of opportunities out there for women who are skilled in sales or want to get into this field. Best of all, it is a level playing field when it comes to income equality.
