Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Eide.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been active and interested in having a fit lifestyle my entire life, but have taken my love for it to a whole new level these last 5 years. At the age of 31, I first developed an interest in weight training and it changed everything! Building muscle, feeling strong, watching the way it changed my body, and the way it allowed me to de-stress after a long day made it totally contagious. To further my knowledge, I hired a personal trainer to teach me the ropes, ended up getting NASM certified a couple years later, and have kept up with that certification.
I hired a competition prep coach a few months after having my second child to prepare for my first bikini fitness show later that summer, as a way to reach a huge goal, failed, quit, and learned a ton about myself, resiliency, and bounced back better and stronger the next year and accomplished my goal. I am now prepping for my 2nd show this fall.
My biggest love has been sharing what I know and my journey with others; from fit pregnancy up through competition prep, workouts, tips, foods, macros, and overall inspiration. I created KrisFit Babes in August 2018 as a platform to share this with as many people as possible and as a way to eventually grow my fitness coaching business.
Current main platform is Instagram. Secondary is Facebook. And currently, all content is free on my website. 🙂 I hope to build on this and start offering coaching, training, and programs in 2019!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Embarking on a new journey is rarely a smooth road. I think the biggest hurdle is self-doubt: can I do this? Am I good enough? That kind of thing…
Timing is the next biggest hurdle – I work full time and have 2 boys to support (plus, all of their homework, activities, etc.), so the days are incredibly short and much time is spent burning the midnight oil.
Advice to young women: believe in yourself first and foremost… obstacles aren’t put in your way to keep you out, but to show how badly you want in. You will encounter naysayers along the way, and the more successful you become, the higher that number will also climb… this is where belief in yourself and the value you provide is paramount. Keep climbing. Keep hustling. Keep grinding. If you want it bad enough, it’s not a matter of IF you succeed, but WHEN.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about KrisFit Babes – what should we know?
Provide (as of now) FREE fitness advice and fitness inspiration to others. I first gained followers during my journey through fit pregnancy and single parenthood (I still have a running single mom blog: www.thesometimessinglemom.com). Once my love of fitness took over, I moved some of that content and added new content to my new website: www.krisfitbabes.com.
What I hear most from people is that they are inspired because I am a mother (single) and still find the time to work out and focus on myself. I preach loudly that to be the best version of yourself, as a woman and as a mother, you have to spend time being selfish and focusing on you each day – even if only for 30 minutes or so… every day you need some “YOU” time. For me, that is found in the gym.
And my trademark phrase is: BE CONFIDENT (letters B-E-F-I-T bolded). Finding confidence through fitness. Confident women are the prettiest.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I use social heavily. I network with those in the industry, with those at my gym and neighboring gyms, and those I admire. I keep up with who is doing what, the trends, what seems to work well and what doesn’t… and mostly I aim to always be authentic (even on my bad days) and to only push content I really love and can relate to.
I am currently doing an Arizona Gym Crasher theme on my blog where I visit and train at popular studios around the Phoenix Metro and do a write-up about each one: the vibe, the equipment, the crowd best suited for each place, etc…. kind of like restaurant reviews, but for fitness studios. I have only done 2 so far and have 2 more lined up and I am ecstatic about it! My goal is to do 50 total by the end of next year. So, this has also helped me network and really branch out with new people and new brands.
