Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberli Edington.
Kimberli, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working when I was 14 at my family’s restaurant selling pizzas. It was a lot of fun and definitely established a good work ethic for myself at a young age. Once I graduated high school, I began working in retail—selling handbags, clothing, shoes, and accessories and worked my way up to a full-time wardrobe stylist with one of the most popular fashion design companies in the world, Michael Kors. I became one of the top-producing stylists, and my mom was one of my favorite clients—she would always come in and shop with me so I could style her!
A Realtor of 25 years, my mom saw my selling techniques and basically “recruited” me to work side-by-side with her. She has always been extremely successful and I knew she would be the best mentor I could ask for. I passed my Real Estate exam and we completely rebranded her team, becoming “our” team—the AZ Real Estate Group.
Since I got my Real Estate license two years ago, I have been blessed with the most wonderful clients, sold many homes totaling millions in sales and only hope to increase my number of happy clients and closed listings every year!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Let’s just say, the term “Rocky Road” is much more than a delicious ice cream flavor. I started to deal with health issues in the middle of Real Estate school and had to take longer than expected to finish classes, study/review for many hours and days, and pass all of my exams. But I didn’t give up until I did it.
Once licensed, I have been very lucky to get a lot of clients over the last couple of years, but that doesn’t mean a few haven’t “gotten away.” There are several buyers and sellers out there with unrealistic expectations that end up spending a LOT of my (and theirs!) time with the entire search or selling process. They suddenly realize after months of searching it’s not the right time or they feel their home is worth more than market value so it won’t sell, or they aren’t sure what criteria they truly need in a home until we’ve seen 50+ homes, etc. I guess ”you can’t win ‘em all!” I remain patient and am always ready for those clients when the time is right for them.
Many men and women consider getting their real estate license. My advice is… it’s not an easy paycheck like most think. Study hard to pass the exams, do your research to join a great brokerage, an interview to join a team that can help you establish and grow your business. There are many amazing agents and brokers out there wanting you to do a killer job in this industry!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Realtor specializing in the buying and selling process throughout the Phoenix valley. I have helped completely rebrand and establish a wonderful team with my mom, who has been dominating this industry for 25 years. I am proud to be working with her because I still have crazy questions here and there and she’ll answer my calls any time, any day because my success is so incredibly important to her.
Our brand is not just about selling homes. It’s about understanding our clients wants and needs for their “perfect home.” It’s about helping them through the entire process and keeping it fun until we hand them their keys to see the biggest smile spread across their face. It’s about creating a relationship with our clients that continue on past the Close of Escrow.
I think what sets me apart from other agents is that I am here for more than the commission… I do all I can to find the right home for my buyers and go above and beyond to get my seller’s home sold. I am truly excited and passionate about helping others make their dreams come true and it is SO much more rewarding than I ever thought it would be!
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My grandma. At the age of 92, she beat stage 3 breast cancer. There are days where I have a silly stomach ache or a dull headache, and I act like I’m dying. I am reminded it could be a lot worse when I think of her. My more serious health issues are still nothing compared to the battle she fought. She fought hard, she won, and she’s inspiring me daily to push through no matter how hard life gets.
My mom. She has raised five kids, is “Gammy” to five incredibly adorable munchkins, and somehow manages to keep her sanity all while being a top-producing Realtor that works around the clock—all day, night, and even holidays to ensure her clients are as satisfied as they could possibly be. I truly aspire to be like her in every way.
My sister. I don’t have any children yet, but when I do I hope I am half the mom she is. Kyley has two of the CUTEST angels ever, Madison (5) and Chelsea (1.5). She is a stay at home mom and I get exhausted FaceTiming her seeing what she does on a daily basis. She is so hands-on with the girls, constantly playing with them, helping them learn everything you could imagine while making sure they have healthy food in their tummies and clean home to play in.
I love these women more than anything. “Inspiration” doesn’t do justice for what they are to me.
