Meet Trailblazer Jasmine Bojorquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Bojorquez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jasmine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started in high school when my mom forced me to take a “Media Productions” class as opposed to a cooking class, my love for recording and editing was born there. I always found interest in the concept of editing videos but never imagined I could be capable of doing it myself. I sat front row in a class full of boys learning the basics of video editing, the hardest thing I had to learn was patience. I always had an idea of what I wanted my videos to look like I was just having trouble transferring that vision to the computer screen. I found my place in class in front of the camera and began leading the school announcements every morning alongside a fellow classmate. We were such a great duo that we were requested to continue to do the morning announcements even after we finished the class. Being in the spotlight was always a secret dream of mine and this class had given me a taste of what it was like and I LOVED IT.

After I graduated, I bought myself my first MacBook Pro, I didn’t have enough money to buy the editing software we used in class so I had to re-learn how to do everything in “i-movie”, that’s where the patience kicked in. There were days I felt like throwing my computer at a wall, but instead would take a deep breath and a long walk. I knew I wanted to be in front of the camera and in order to get my face out there, I was gonna have to do it myself. So, I learned some basic skills in iMovie, shot everything with my iPhone, and started a YouTube channel. Over the years, I struggled to find a voice for my channel, YouTube was filled with beauty gurus and I didn’t exactly fit that genre. I drank coffee like an addict and I hiked mountains looking for answers until I answered my own question. I wanted to share my community, I wanted to share the view from the top of the mountain, I wanted to share the “BEST CUP OF COFFEE” I’ve ever had. So, that’s exactly what I did. I shared the coffee shops I was going too, I shared the mountains I was hiking, I shared my story, and to my surprise, the community responded and has so far has loved the content I’m putting out.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has definitely not been smooth, but what’s a good success story if there’s no struggle? My mom was diagnosed with paranoia a couple of years ago when I had just started my YouTube journey. It affected me and my family tremendously. Our mom decided to leave and we had no idea where she went. It was concerning for her and for my two younger siblings as well, wondering where she had disappeared too. After a couple of months, she made a reappearance and everything began to spiral out of control. Depression kept me trapped in my mind, all my ideas and my YouTube channel came to screeching halt.

I had shared all my ideas with my best friend at the time and she decided to take my silence as an opportunity to start her own YouTube channel with everything I had shared with her.

Everything was falling apart in my life and all I wanted to do was give up. There were endless nights of crying and confusion and no amount of hiking could give me an answer to what was happening around me. I strapped down and went for one of the most awful rides of my life. I lost family, I lost friends, and I felt like I was losing myself. But if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s to never ever give up and keep fighting. Every day was a struggle but every day, I reminded myself how strong I was. Through time, the pain I felt became a strength, the problems around me weren’t holding any more weight. It seems as though time has done its job. My advice for anyone would be to strap down and be patient. Time will heal, all the pain you feel is temporary, time just needs some time sometimes.

We’d love to hear more about Jasmine Ventures AZ.
With my YouTube channel, my goal is to showcase Arizona’s beauty and hidden gems. Growing up, I heard the phrase ” There’s nothing to do here, it’s just desert” over a million times.

So, I go around with my camera and I prove them all wrong. Arizona is absolutely beautiful and full of life, I love capturing it and bringing it to the screen to share with all of you.
