Meet Trailblazer Hannah Mesinas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Mesinas.

Hannah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My love for hair and makeup started at a young age; I remember back in middle school I would have my little set up every morning before school and I would do all of my friend’s makeup/hair. It was like my own little underground buisness. I would get so happy making people look beautiful that I would want to do my makeup and hair as well. Being that I’m from a Hispanic family, my mom was very strict when it came to makeup. At 15, I was allowed to do my makeup and I remember the day I turned 15… I went straight on a haul. Ever since then, I continue to learn about new techniques on hair and makeup and put into practice to make it to the next level in this industry.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Anything you want, you have to work for it. Having a diligent, hustlers mindset is always what keeps me going. There have been times I’ve gotten so frustrated with having so much drama due to the makeup world to having people steal my work! But always remember there will always be a hard road of struggles to get where you wanna get. One thing I can tell any young woman who is starting their journey: DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO BE THE BEST YOU. You are your worst enemy and worst critic, it’s going to be hard and you’re going to want to quit but don’t you ever dare give up on yourself. Want that degree? Get it. Want to start a YouTube? START IT. Never hold back because of fear because I can promise you that will be what you regret later in life.

Currently, I am attending school to become a certified cosmetologist, but I specialize in color and balayages. I am a certified makeup artist, I tend to do more clients outside of school and work for makeup. Anywhere I’ve gone: school, work, etc. I was known for eyebrows! Eyebrows are my thing, I can fix, help, and/or make any eyebrows.

As a brand, I am most proud of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve grown throughout this journey to make what is Blessbvbyartistry. I believe that what makes me different is I don’t do it for clout or following, I genuinely love masking people have confidence and feel beautiful. Most people/brands now have lost the passion and for lost in the money or following, but I do it for the passion I have to make any and every woman/man feel beautiful, etc.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I didn’t have a rough childhood growing up or didn’t really notice. My family didn’t come from a lot of money, but my parents never failed to give my sisters and I everything we needed/wanted. I am beyond grateful for my parents, they showed me to never let life bring you down no matter the obstacles always, always, always pray and believe God works his ways. As a family, we have had setbacks, financially… but we always pushed through. My dad never stopped working or doing everything he possibly can to never have less than what we had. My dad is a true hustler and I thank him for everything he did to make us live comfortably. Now, my mom, she is such a blessing as well, she’s never failed to put food on the table and cook us a meal even if we got to eat more than her she always put us first. She is truly an amazing woman, I could wish and pray to be half the woman she is.
