Today we’d like to introduce you to Drea Holland.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Drea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have spent my entire life battling my weight.
After spending 4 months on complete bedrest while pregnant with my last son, I weighed 200 lbs. I am 5’1″.
I searched online, visited trainers and tried every crash diet out there to get in shape before finally deciding that I would get certified as a trainer and lose the weight myself.
I became a different person. Fitness changed my life and I knew I had to help others do and feel the same.
I have competed in and won 2 bodybuilding shows and continue to advance my education in Fitness and nutrition to learn all I can and help as many people as I can.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No. Making a change is never a smooth road.
From injuries that had me sidelined to an unexpected divorce the harder, I worked to better myself the more life seemed to throw at me.
I will say for me taking care of myself made me feel strong. It was an outlet for my stress and helped me remain in control of my self when things around me were out of control.
There are no shortcuts. Take the time to make healthy food choices, enjoy treats in moderation and try to do something active at least once a day. Your body and mind will thank you!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am currently working as a personal trainer and online diet coach for Northington Fitness and Nutrition in Gilbert, Arizona.
I am a Specialist in Sports Nutrition and Women’s Fitness.
I am proud of the fact that I have been where so many of my clients have and understand their struggles.
My passion comes from everything I have been through.
I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in my 20’s. Spent years dealing with infertility, battled depression, isolation, I have weighed 200 lbs., survived a divorce and now, as a single working mother of two boys, I juggle life and make my health a priority.
Being able to relate personally to people helps me connect on a deeper level and build trust and a genuine, loving friendship. My clients are like my family.
I think to my client’s I am their cheerleader. Someone showing them I did it and you can too!
Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think women have made amazing strides in proving our knowledge and ability in the fitness industry, but there is always the few people who feel male trainers are more capable or poses more knowledge of the body and training than women do.
