Today we’d like to introduce you to Dorothy Huynh.
Dorothy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It was the year 2012.
I had just graduated from college and I started my first real job at a private advertising/market research firm. I moved into this awesome 1-bedroom apartment and my girlfriend of 4 years decided she wanted to live with me.
My parents were so proud.
In my head, I thought all I needed to do was maintain this for the next few years, maybe get promoted and buy a house or something. Life seemed pretty set.
What I didn’t expect was towards the end of the year, I’d be forced into quitting the company because my “skill set was too specific” and they required me to sign an NDA along with a 2-year non-compete. Not only that, my so-called girlfriend at the time ghosted me within the same 2 weeks.
I was definitely jaded for a few years. I felt hurt and confused more than anything. I closed myself off to the world doing whatever I could to numb things. I put myself into $10,000+ of debt drinking, smoking, and partying because I wanted to keep up with my friends.
I tried to do everything that people were telling me to do. I worked 2 jobs for the sake of being able to say I had a job. I even went back to school for my Master’s degree. At the end of the day though, I still felt very hollow inside.
I look back at this time in my life and I’m just like “DAMN, I got F******!”
But you know what? That breakdown became the foundation for some of the biggest breakthroughs in my life.
I had the opportunity of meeting some of the most amazing mentors and coaches. Many of whom live right here in this state.
I discovered my purpose and created a vision for my life.
I re-wrote my beliefs and values based on love and self-empowerment rather than fear.
I now have the privilege of designing my life according to my purpose, vision, and values every day.
Has it been a smooth road?
If you had told me I’d be where I am today 6 years ago, I probably would have been very skeptical and told you to “F’ Off!” It’s my mission in life to share the principles I’ve learned:
1. You are love. Show yourself compassion. Create beliefs and stand on values that empower you.
2. Your BEing is greater than your doing. Prioritize it. How you show up is much more valuable than what you’re doing or what you have.
3. Release all judgement of where you are now in order to receive the love and support you need to be where you want to be. You are worthy of it.
4. Everything you desire is already in existence, but you have to be open to it.
5. Most of the time, it’s not a strategy issue. Do the inner work. Don’t let personal issues become your business issues.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a performance and mindset coach for millennials who want to make an impact. I help them discover their purpose, claim their power, and live in alignment with their vision.

Through my 1-1 and group coaching offers, my clients know they’re always getting what’s best for them because I cater their programs specifically to their goals and lifestyle.
I work from the inside out making sure that each person develops their own understanding and foundations for continuous and sustainable success.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I dealt with a lot of depression and suicidal thoughts because I grew up in a very religious and traditional Asian household that made me believe I was going to hell. The day I came out to my family was the first experience where I learned how powerful it was to step into my truth and not allow anyone’s opinion of me prevent me from living.
I was also picked on and bullied a lot as a child for being different.
My mental fortitude was forged through these trying times and helped me create an unshakeable foundation in believing what I could overcome.
