Today we’d like to introduce you to DiVoye Peterson.
DiVoye, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I had huge dreams of being an actress! I have a decent background in theater and have taken many acting classes, training, I’ve attended many auditions in different cities, different states all over the US only to be told “No” “You’re too short” “Great Audition BUT You don’t have the look “You’re too this “You’re too that.” I’d had enough! After many failed audition attempts, I decided to create my own entertainment outlet so I decided to start my own YouTube channel.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Striving for a spot in the entertainment industry I feel is never easy! It has definitely been a struggle! Some of the most difficult adversities have been, growing subscriber count, staying consistent with entertaining content, feeling the pressure of the “numbers and views”, mean comments, etc!
The BEST advice I could give any young content creator is to be who you are! DON’T focus on numbers! Create great content, stay consistent, and don’t get discouraged if you don’t see the results you aspire right away! Focus on creating good quality content and everything else will follow!
We’d love to hear more about DiVoyeINC.
I am a YouTuber/blogger/social media influencer! My YouTube channel is a lifestyle channel where I provide viewers with a look inside of my life. My blog/(vlog) consists of product reviews, current events, storytimes, and comedy! I am very proud of the platform and following that my channel has gained! I feel what sets me apart from other influencers in my ability to connect with others by posting real, unfiltered, relatable content! I just LOVE when I receive emails expressing how much my content has helped through a situation! I feel like my viewers look to me as a friend and that is my end goal! When I’m able to help and inspire my subscribers, it’s all worth it!
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
Honestly, I feel that the biggest barriers to female leadership are the ability to unite with each other and come together to help one another. Nowadays (especially in this industry), it can become very competitive and I feel it is very important for us as women to come together and realize there is room for everyone at the table and there’s enough to go around!
