Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Vance.
Christina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have had a lifelong passion for real estate and feel very blessed to work in an industry that I love so much. I get to meet some of the coolest people and help them achieve their dreams. I have always viewed home ownership as an incredibly important part of life, and believe that your home should be your sanctuary.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve been licensed now nearly a year, and yes, it is challenging to get started. I set out with a plan of really immersing myself in the business and learning as much as I could during my first six months. I said yes to every workshop, webinar, market tour, class, and training program that I could find. To be successful, I knew I needed to have confidence in what I would be doing and to have confidence I really needed to be truly knowledgeable in my field.
We’d love to hear more about Real Estate Agent with North&Co.
I find it to be really important to listen and understand your client’s needs and wants. I know that sounds so simple, but it really is so important and unfortunately, I think in many trades frequently overlooked. I have a client who went on vacation and told me if the right house came up while she was gone, she’d make the offer without seeing it herself if I had seen it and given it the stamp of approval. That was a huge moment for me because I knew that she trusted me to know what she would like because I have been paying attention.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding the right mentor is such an important step in your career. As a real estate agent, you will be accountable for yourself in a very different way than in a traditional career. You aren’t required by anyone to show up to events and meetings, but success begins with showing up. Finding a mentor also starts with showing up. Get to know other engaged agents, find out who is having success, and before you know it you will have a network of experienced people to go to for questions and guidance.
