Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Edrington.
Autumn Edrington was born into a military family and moved around through the U.S. in her early years. After graduating from Arizona State University with a business degree she began work in Phoenix, AZ for a larger corporation. She knew something was missing from her life but she hadn’t yet figured out what it was.
It was during this time Autumn was introduced to yoga. After her first class, she immediately knew she had found something absolutely life-changing. The spiritual connection to her soul was immediate and unwavering. She wanted more. As her practice continued to blossom, the roots she had been looking to put down were discovered within herself and her personal practice. Yoga was her home.
Soon after her first class, she began her studies to become a yoga instructor finishing her 500 HOUR RYT Certification with Dave and Cheryl Oliver. Under the guidance of Cheryl Oliver, she continues her studies today.
In 2009, Autumn left her corporate job to continue her passion and open up YogaSpot in Gilbert, AZ. She is honored to pass along the amazing effects a yoga practice can bring to anyone willing to come to their mat.
Her spiritual journey is ever growing. From her experiences, Autumn has created her own Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training Program (Aim Free Teacher Training) and Retreat Company (Aim Free Retreats) to continue to inspire like-minded individuals and help them along their personal inward journey.
Today Autumn is an E-RYT 500 hour Master Level Yoga instructor who is known for making yoga accessible to new students and experienced teachers alike. Autumn is able to meet students where they are at in their practice and assist in cultivating the yogic path they wish to take.
Autumn has found yoga to be life-changing but the biggest role of her life will be guiding her children, Brady and Shay to become compassionate and caring human begins during their short time on Earth.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think there will be challenges along the way no matter what your goal is. The road is never straight and smooth but bumpy, curvy and riddled with obstacles.
A challenge usually requires a change to be made. If you feel this is a change you want to make, then start the process by beginning with the first step. Change cannot happen if you do not begin… so begin. As each challenge presents itself, focus there, instead of the entire picture and the next steps will start to show themselves.
There are times we get lost in self-doubt, we give up and wonder why we even began. It is those times that make your goal worth it in the end. You will find a way if you continue. It may not look exactly like what you originally envisioned but that can be ok. It is all part of your story.
To young women, believe in yourself. In the world of flashy, fast-paced, hurry up and achieve everything movement the reason you began can get lost. You are enough. There is no need to step on anyone to get to the top. Above all, remember to be kind along the way. This is what I tell my children.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about YogaSpot – what should we know?
I am most grateful for the human connection I, as a yoga instructor, gets to offer daily. Sometimes, people come to their mat to workout, sometimes people come to let go, sometimes people are broken. No matter what I am allowed to serve their needs. This is why I opened a yoga studio, to begin with. Yoga truly saved my life in more ways than one and I want to spread and share this gift with as many people as possible. This is why I do what I do. This is what I hope sets myself and my studio apart.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
The comparison game is our worst enemy. Be patient and be kind to yourself. Surround yourself with a group of like-minded individuals that will support you, lift you higher and allow you to do the same for them.
