Meet Trailblazer Alexa Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Evans.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started baking with my mother when I was 16 (yikes! 15 years ago) – she ran a local catering company called Cuisine D’Amis. After many years working side by side & learning from her, I moved on to Lux Central – baking everything from morning pastries (sweetbreads, scones, muffins, donuts) to special order wedding cakes, pies, cookies and LOTS of holiday/seasonal goods. When we parted ways, I started my own side hustle – snack bar. I do a lot of small catered events – think baby showers & engagement parties, custom wedding cakes and lots and lots of birthday cupcakes!

Has it been a smooth road?
HAH! Definitely not smooth sailing – As a single mother, I also work a 9-5 and I squeeze as many special orders into a week as I can without being neglectful. My biggest struggle has always been financial with the fear of not being able to provide for my family if I was to make the jump & do this full time. It’s something I consider ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. I would love to be a role model for young woman everywhere to just keep running towards your goals & don’t get discouraged when you can’t please everyone. It’s impossible – can you even believe that some people don’t like cake?

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in cake & charcuterie – bringing joy to others through food is something that gives me so much pleasure and pride I could just burst. I love coming into your home and setting up a giant spread or assembling a wedding cake at your venue. I’m totally a crier so the last decoration or flower placed always has me in tears.

I’m also currently obsessed with snack bar as a brand – I worked tirelessly with a local friend, Annie Cate – anniecate.com. She has completely redesigned the snack bar visually & for the masses and I cannot wait to see what our future holds!

    We have had Alexa in our home preparing for many events. She has never disappointed. Our guests are always delighted with her delicious desserts and appetizers. Her calm presence makes entertaining a breeze. We love her and often say “Alexa, can you help us”. ❤️
