Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Black.
Hi Traci, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi, my name is Traci Black, and I serve as the Vice President of Operations at DIZPOT, a global packaging, branding, and logistics company serving the highly regulated cannabis market. I have over two decades of business management experience and a proven track record in and outside the cannabis industry. After serving as the Director of Operations, I was recently promoted to V.P. of Operations at DIZPOT. In 2022, the company was named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in America, reporting a three-year revenue growth of 319%. Outside of work, I am a mother of five, grandmother of three, and an avid outdoor enthusiast. Growing up in Oregon on the Rogue River, I greatly appreciate nature, whether on the lake or near the ocean. My greatest motivation is helping others to be their best at DIZPOT headquarters and home.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I love the quote, “Smooth roads never make good drivers.” It has not always been a smooth road, but I have learned and grown with every twist, turn, and bump. Before entering the cannabis industry, I was heavily involved with business development and management. I specialized in working one-on-one with companies in their infancy and helped guide them through phases in which they otherwise might not have flourished. I did this by cultivating the right leaders and learning from my mistakes and successes. I have also started my own business in the past, which, as any entrepreneur can tell you, is a journey full of late nights, hard work, and satisfaction. With these experiences in hand, I entered the cannabis industry. I worked as a general manager of one of the largest medical marijuana companies in the U.S. I helped to grow this brand. This required me to work hard to become an expert in an emerging sector, which is not an easy feat, as any cannabis professional will tell you. But it’s so worth it.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I became interested in the industry while growing up in Oregon. I had many friends researching cannabis and have personally seen the impact it can make on people from all walks of life. From recovery for addicts to pain relief for cancer patients, I knew I wanted to be a part of an industry that helped many people. Therefore, my career path led me to many excellent companies on the way, but now I serve as the Vice President of Operations at DIZPOT. DIZPOT recently celebrated five years in business, and we are a global cannabis branding and packaging company with custom technologies for highly regulated markets. John Hartsell and Jeff Scrabeck founded the company, and we now produce millions of packages every month, providing customers with solutions to compliantly and competitively bring products to market. Our offerings at DIZPOT include compliance-driven branding and logo design, cannabis and hemp-specific packaging, logistics, creative subscription plans, industry-targeted technologies, and in-house DOSS cartridge solutions.
What do you think about happiness?
At DIZPOT, the most rewarding part of my job is mentoring and coaching my team to bring everyone to the next level. I love figuring out how to motivate my team, minimize their weaknesses, and maximize their strengths. I feel very fortunate to work with someone whose core values go hand in hand with mine. Amazing people surround me, and I am grateful to be a part of a company that prides itself on supporting and cultivating a culture that is accepting of everyone involved. Outside of work, I love being a mom and grandma, and I enjoy nature at every chance. I believe in making the most out of every day and motivating those around me to do the same.
