Meet Timothy Hsiao of AZ Party Animals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Hsiao.

Hi Timothy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We rescued our miniature donkeys for our three kids — we wanted them to have a pet project as they grew up. It all started when we had the donkeys as party animals for their birthday party. Everyone loved them! Little kids loved petting and taking photos with them — and our donkeys loved interacting with the little people even more! Thus, the business name, AZ Party Animals, and the concept evolved — focusing on bringing happiness to people! Additionally, since beer burros bring a lot of excitement, we decided to take them to couples’ weddings for cocktail hour. We’ve noticed that people agree with us! We value listening to our customers and have prioritized providing fun experiences that people continue to want repeatedly. For instance, we had requests for horses at events. Our friends have multiple beautiful horses, and we have started to take them to parties, too! The success of our brand is the result of our valuable customers. They appreciate being heard, and in turn, they are given a unique, high-quality service at their events. We love how much fun people have with our animals!

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As with every start-up, there are struggles. We want our three kids to be involved and learn the importance of creativity and entrepreneurship — often not taught in school at a young age. Whether our donkeys are a pet or a beer burro at a wedding, these animals require much attention. We have sacrificed our time to get the business off the ground. As a family, we spend more nights, weekends, and holidays training the animals to ensure the business’s success. On top of this, we both have our full-time careers. So, balancing this business’s needs with our family’s needs has been challenging in determining how far we can scale its growth. Overall, we are happy with its continuous progress and can’t wait to see where it takes us!

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We enjoy the sense of fulfillment that comes from creating something so original! This has been a fun adventure for the whole family, and we have given our customers unique and memorable experiences that last a lifetime! Our focus is to bring people happiness and laughter. We love watching people’s faces light up when they see our adorable animals at local events! We love that our animals foster a sense of community. While expanding our business is essential, we also value building customer relationships. This has allowed us to build a loyal customer base and a strong community of franchise partners invested in the business’s success. We are happy with our decision because our business has become known for its excellent entertainment services and their positive impact on our local community.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
We never knew how much fun it was to have these donkeys around. Henry and Phil have such loving personalities that they’ve become more than just a fun business – they’ve become part of the family! We couldn’t imagine life without them!
