Meet Tim McBride of Homes for Good, Wexler Real Estate, and Realty Executives

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim McBride.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always pushed myself to live via the formula that for one to obtain, they must first pursue. I grew up in Vancouver Canada, inspired significantly by three things: (1) the unconditional love and support of my parents (2) the altruism and entrepreneurial spirit of my dad and (3) the greatness and community initiatives I saw from local professional athletes and sports teams.

Through the process of observation, education, and participation, these mentors symbolically served as a personal standard for self-identification.. My credentials include a business degree from Arizona State University (Go Devils!), followed by a Masters in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco (Southern California Campus).

Before truly pursuing in my post-secondary academic career, I first aspired for excellence as an athlete at the David Leadbetter IMG Golf Academy in Bradenton Florida. Most recently prior to becoming a Realtor in 2017, I co-founded, funded and launched my own startup technology company Pledger: a customizable fundraising software and mobile application that utilized real-time game performance statistics to trigger charitable donations from a sports fan.

Even with my diverse background and professional experience, I believe that my success in Real Estate will only be realized and sustainable if properly built on a foundation of purpose, transparency, and mission.  This is my WHY for building and launching Homes for Good.  Homes for Good is mission-driven real estate brand, designed to create a positive impact at scale, every day.

My goal is to elevate the standard of service beyond the traction by bringing the community together to increase awareness and raise money for local non-profits through everyday real estate activities, such as open houses, marketing, business development, networking, and more. By sharing their stories, fundraising, and creating an easy opportunity for others to do the same, we make it our mission to help non-profits achieve theirs. With inspiration from “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” This is me taking a shot at that change.

Before anything else, I am an extremely proud family man and have been blessed to share my life with my beautiful wife Liz, and our kids Ella (4) and Bennett (2) and Baby Boy #3 coming soon in March.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not!  That being said, I’m extremely grateful for all of life’s lessons that I’ve experienced over the years.  An easy example to share would be having to shut down and walk away from my startup – Pledger – after investing five years of my life (2011-2016) into it.  Pledger is the reason I relocated my family here to Phoenix from Los Angeles back in 2015.  At the time, Pledger was an accumulation of all of my professional experiences and personal passions, and to walk away for a new path in Real Estate was extremely difficult.  Looking back, I thought Pledger was my professional “Why” I was convinced it was about legacy for myself, my family and for a community that gave me so much over my years of life.  Boy was I wrong!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Homes for Good, Wexler Real Estate, and Realty Executives – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I think of myself as both a real estate agent and a change agent with a WHY and sense of purpose greater than myself.  I aspire to shift the paradigm of service and value by reaching beyond my everyday real estate business activities to highlight the good being done in our communities, support charities doing good work and create authentic relationships with good people.

As a realtor and local Scottsdale expert, I’m currently the #1 Buyer’s Agent for The #1 Ranked Buyer’s Agent in Arizona, the #2 Realtor in Scottsdale and the #5 Realtor (out of 35,000+ agents) in Arizona by the Phoenix Business Journal – James Wexler (Wexler Real Estate).  I try to draw from years of experience in finance, real estate, and as a business owner in the sports and entertainment business. My only interest is that of my client’s best interest, therefore I aim to build a reputation for having a personable  ‘customer first’ approach with a proven ability to guide buyers to obtain the best price for their dream home and to assist sellers to a smooth, stress-free sale of their home.

What I am most proud of though is my Homes for Good platform and my pursuit to make a real difference with real estate.  Homes for Good pushes me daily to want to think big, dream big, and make an even bigger impact.  In today’s marketplace, I believe that what a brand or business stands for is as important as what they sell. They have two purposes — the first is to serve their customers; the second is their community. I look forward to continuing to of service in the business and to sharing fundraising stories of impact in 2019, and to making myself available daily in support of local business and non-profit organizations that make it their mission to be of service to the community.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, nothing. I won’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for all of past life experiences. Good and bad. I also don’t believe that there’s one perfect formula for success beyond hard work.  Success I believe is realized in hindsight. One won’t recognize it until they’ve already lived it. Therefore I aspire to take the initiative with everything that is put in front of me and find success each and every day.
