Meet Tiffany Rebozo-Brand of Sketch N Cakes in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Rebozo-Brand.

Tiffany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I originally started Sketch N Cakes because I was unhappy with the cakes that were available to me. As the oldest of 9 siblings and from a large family, we would always have birthday cakes and cupcakes at our celebrations every month. With a sweet tooth and a creative mind, I found myself unimpressed with the taste, and appearance of the cakes we would buy. It was then, that I was determined to improve our options.

An artist at heart, I thought to myself, “If I can draw and paint on paper and on walls, I can do it on a cake!” So I went to the kitchen and began my journey. My first cakes impressed everyone, and with word of mouth, my hobby grew. Before I knew it, I had a newfound love for baking. I love expressing my creativity through the art of cake. I’m inspired by everything around me – from the colors of the sunset to a sweet flavor in the air, or even an art project created by my children. After years and years of perfecting my own take on what I think is a tenacious view of the cake industry, I aspire to keep growing and learning innovative ways to help brighten up future celebrations!

I hope to one day pass the torch of my empire to my two daughters Isabella and Holliston. They have definitely inherited my whimsical way of thinking, and enjoy watching mom at work. Until that day comes, they are the cutest little baking assistants; and I look forward to what we can create together.

With an amazing husband by my side and 3 wonderful kids to support me, I’m constantly reminded of how blessed I am to live my dream every day. I hope to inspire others to chase after their dreams. With hard work, dedication, consistency, and love in your heart; I truly believe you can accomplish anything.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth at all! The road to success is never a straight line.

Some of the struggles I’ve came across, are trying to balance family time and work time. My children have asked me several times (and complained) that I work too much. They assume that work should take place in a 9-5, Monday – Friday time frame. I’ve had to teach them the ideals of entrepreneurship. Sometimes I wonder why I chose to start my own business, and work 24/7. It can be emotionally draining, and exhausting. Honestly, I can’t imagine myself having a ‘regular’ job. I know all of my hard work and dedication will pay off in the long run.

Starting off, I felt as though I had 3 strikes against me. I’m a woman, I’m considered a minority, and I’m young. People weren’t taking me seriously, and would look at me like, “Oh look how cute your little hobby is”. I’ve had to work harder than everyone else, further educate myself, and fight for everything I have. Now, I realize it’s those obstacles that made me stronger than everyone else.

I will continue to be under-estimated, and I will continue to grow my brand, and show everyone what a young minority woman can do.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sketch N Cakes story. Tell us more about the business.
Sketch N Cakes is a local bakery specializing in Cupcakes, Custom Cakes, and cake pops.

We offer traditional cakes as well as vegan/organic/gluten-free/dye-free cakes. With society’s growing health problems, we felt it was important to venture out into this part of un-explored baking. We wanted to have good tasting cakes available to those who have chosen to live a healthier lifestyle.

Every cake item that is available in Vegan is automatically Organic, Gluten Free and Dye Free as well. We know you will love these creations as much as your body will.

On the Vegan cake side, we are known for the overall taste of our cakes. Every customer we have encountered on this side of baking, has become a customer, and a friend.

On the traditional cake side, we are definitely known for our delicious frosting, and a few popular cake flavors. Our frosting is not only delightful, but non-melt as well! Having non-melt frosting is a must with our Phoenix heat!

I’m most proud of the quality of our cakes, and how much we’ve grown. Once you see and taste our cakes, you will feel the love that’s put into it, and understand how we are different from the rest.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see Sketch N Cakes growing, and being one of the most popular businesses in Arizona. There are no limits for us, we plan on being involved with our community, and listening to what our customers are looking for in their tasty treats.
