Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Crocenzi .
Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I went to beauty school in high school to get away from the school I went to. I actually wanted to do nails, until I touched them. I figured it would be a backup career, but I fell in love with hair. When I left beauty school I was terrified of haircuts, so for 4 years I was a color specialist for TIGI and never cut hair. I then wanted to venture out and learn cutting and still do color. Now, I rent out a suite at the Salon Suites on Shea. I have worked here for over 8 years. I love where I work, and the people I work with. I have a 7 year old daughter who has grown up with me working here. I love classic colors and highlights and also love doing fun, bright colors.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle I had, was moving around from Salon to Salon. When you change salons you lose at least 20 percent of your clientele. Now that I am honest my Salon and have been for a long time, I am where I want to be.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Shear Terror Salon – what should we know?
My business is called Shear Terror. I figured if I named it that, I would only get the clientele that would fit my personality. I am known for my sparkling personality and sailor mouth. I am known for colors that stand out, but also the classic highlights. I am proud that as a company I work a lot, but I have so much fun working. My clients become family and I don’t look at them like a paycheck. I sincerely care about each one of them. I feel pretty lucky.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
About a year or so ago, my friend Heidi had this crazy idea to do all kinds of hair shows out of town. We spent the year traveling to different places and checking out all kinds of fun stuff. Being a stylist for 20 years, I needed that extra kick to get my mind working again and trying new things. My clients are better than anyone else’s. They are why I am here.
