Meet Tiara D. Thornton of Sassy Curls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara D. Thornton.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
On March 27, 2011, I started a personal blog sassycurls.com to share hair, makeup, fashion, and inner beauty. At this time, I did not see many people that looked like me or at least had hair like mine. I wanted to be a role model for anyone struggling to be comfortable in their own skin.

The mission of Sassy Curls is to help women embrace their individuality, value their self-worth, and discover their dreams. “Here’s to always being your B.E.S.T! Be Fashionable, Embrace Individuality, Stay Classy, Treat Yourself,” is the theme for my website.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. It is a struggle to balance how much of my personal life; I truly want to share and still remain authentic to my audience. I also had to overcome what my friends and family would think about me sharing my lifestyle on social media platforms.

Please tell us about Sassy Curls.
I truly enjoy all aspects of the beauty industry. I enjoy trying new products and sharing my thoughts with my audience.

I am very proud that my brand promotes embrace all forms of beauty. What sets Sassy Curls apart from others is all in the mission. My hope is that anything I post gives value to my audience.

As much as I enjoy clothing and beauty products, I also incorporate how to find inner peace. I share books I have read, quotes that inspire me, and occasionally my two kitty cats make an appearance as well.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
I am originally from New Mexico, so I love the desert. I love to attend plays, fashion shows, and sporting events.

My only complaint is the lack of green chili. Other than that, Arizona is a beautiful State.
