Meet Callus

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Callus. Callus was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented LegendofLinc.

Thomas (Callus), thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
My name is Thomas Cheval & I am a Los Angeles based producer formally known as ‘Callus’. How I got started into music was being around my dad and him having instruments laying around the house. He had all types of instruments, recording equipment, drum machines, etc… At a young age, I was already interested in music because of the equipment my dad had. I would sit in with him when he was rehearsing with his band & engineering his sessions. Sometimes, he would show me how to use the drum machine or how to record in Pro Tools.

Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
My music is a representation of me. My production is mainly catered to me because this is what I would want to listen to on a daily basis. I have invested a lot of time into my career & there has been a lot of progress from when I started. To check out my music, you can type in “prodbycallus” on YouTube and everything will pop up.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Christian, a.k.a. the music artist, ‘LegendofLincWe really admire him and what he has built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with him?
Working with Linc was destined to happen. That dude is my brother for life. His work ethic is amazing and can never be matched by anyone else. The first time I met Linc was at a school I used to work at back in 2018. I remember I saw him there and he was coaching the basketball team. At that time, I was looking to build a relationship and grow with an artist. I wasn’t really getting any type of work or recognition from artists so I started searching for someone that would have the same idea as myself. After seeing Linc at my job I felt like he did something else other than coaching. About a couple days later I was on LinkedIn and I saw Linc’s page pop up on my suggestion feed for potential connections. I clicked on his page and saw that he was a songwriter, producer, and lyricist. I sat down and really gave it some thought and I said “F it”. I sent him a message introducing myself and offered to work with him. He messaged me back fast and embraced me with open arms. He invited me over to his place and immediately we hit it off. We both realized that we had the same friend group and we went to middle school together. Mind blowing! That helped me confirm that he was the artist I needed to work with. The journey that we both went through from 2018 to now has been great! A lot of learning has been done and both of our names are floating around amongst the people in the music industry.
