Meet Thom Petteruti of TAP and Sons Electric in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thom Petteruti.

Thom , can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Over 50 years generation to generation in the electrical industry servicing Arizona. I am the third generation. I went on my own and Started TAP in 1996. This is our 22nd year in business. Some of our customers range from The Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Coyotes, Major restaurant and retail corporations around Arizona, Nevada, California and New Mexico.

I started TAP with $300.00 and my tool bucket. We built TAP on persistence, Honesty, Integrity, great people skills and awesome workmanship. We are always driven to keep the best products and knowledge in the industry. We started a new division last year called Lighting SouthWest. This company is national lighting whole sale.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We always think positive. Successful people do what unsuccessful people won’t. We all have dips but it’s how you handle the dips. Always stay focused and learn from bad experiences from ourselves and others.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with TAP and Sons Electric – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are high on customer service and our reputation on great workmanship. We are huge on marketing and branding. You can find us at most sporting venues and charities. It really comes down to answering the phone and following through. Sounds simple but a lot of companies lose that.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our new Lighting SouthWest company is a very exciting move for us. It will be larger than our electrical division.
