Today we’d like to introduce you to Thai Ngo.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Fortunately enough, I came from a family of both parents are Chinese, but was born and raised in Vietnam for 18 years, before a life-changing experience to America. So I pretty much speak three languages (thanks Mom and Dad).
DSLR camera, I was introduced to it from my best buddy and immediately fall in love with it. I was amazed of what you can do with the setting and RAW images, you can change day to night, simple to gorgeous, etc. just like a magician. So with that said, I got my very first DSLR camera, it’s the Canon t3i and yes I’m still using it. “Your products depend more on your skill and knowledge rather than most expensive, newest gears”.
Please tell us about your art.
In either photography or videography, we can turn something simple to gorgeous and beautiful. Some photographers like to use photoshop, but others don’t. It’s like makeup vs no makeup, there is nothing wrong with either one. I personally like natural light with some color grading in edit and sometimes touch up with photoshop.
I’ve met many people in my life. I often asked if they ever have had a photography session done. The answer usually are either “I’m not pretty”, or “I don’t need it” which is another way saying “I’m not beautiful”. I believe everyone is beautiful, and by saying that they are not, they lost confidence in themselves.
In my works, I always try to bring out their confidence, their inner and outer beauties. Help them realize how beautiful they are. So in my photography session, it’s not just taking photos, it’s how the photos were taken. It’s not just a photo session, it’s an experience.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
I know there are many new cameras, accessories, gears, etc. release every year. Unless you’re in the professional commercial work, then I don’t think you need to keep up with the newest gears. Camera, lens, and other accessories are just tools, what important is your skill and knowledge of those tools. So practice on what you have, get the most out of them, the more you do, the better you get. Then you will know what’s your next purchase would be, it’s like leveling up.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
