Meet Taylor Wellman of Financial Potion in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Wellman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I started my video production training in Frederick, Maryland graduating high school with certifications for video production and non-linear editing. Eric, the other co-owner and my husband, started his training in Toledo, Ohio. We met in 2010 at a video marketing company in Phoenix, and then worked at a video production company in Scottsdale till July of 2014 when we formed our own video marketing company, Financial Potion. We knew we would be able to better serve the community and businesses with video marketing solutions if we were running the ship. Its been the best decision we ever made.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m truly grateful for Linkedin because as soon as my profile changed to “business owner”, people who I knew from my previous production positions came to me excited that they were able to work directly with me, versus going through my old bosses, however of course the first year of starting a new business is always a bit “difficult” getting your name out there and building a client enough clientele to be consistent. In the third year, it was time to hire and expand to our team, and we had difficulty finding quality passionate candidates, however, with the right persistence and training, we were able to find great team members as well.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Financial Potion provides video marketing solutions to business owners in the form of full-service video production, video editing, video social media optimization, and distribution, as well as training. We’re FAA certified for commercial drone photography and videography and are a boutique business model providing solutions that the individual business owner needs. We don’t push packages or try to fit businesses into boxes. Every service we provide is customized to the client we’re working with. One of our most proud relationships is working with the City of Chandler Library and Museum for their various projects throughout the last few years.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an entrepreneur by heart. When the leaves were falling, I was going around to neighbors to rake leaves for money. When the snow was falling, I was going around to neighbors to shovel snow. When it was summer, my parents didn’t let me use the lawn mower since they thought it was dangerous, so I would have yard sales, host magic shows, and talent shows with my friends where we charged admission to the neighborhood and sold snacks for intermission. I always loved writing which explains why I still truly value pre-production and helping clients come up with the best scripts and production plans for their videos.
