Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Norris.
Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
In February 2021, after finishing my master’s in counseling I decided to become a stay home with my son. I was looking for something part-time to supplement my income so I started selling boutique clothes and my artwork at local markets. Shortly after I started I began adding hand-me-down and thrifted jewelry to hats that were given to me by my mom and found at local thrift stores.
I added ribbons and fabric from scarves. As my clothing business expanded through stores across the valley and states I decided to start the first hat bar in Arizona. I was contacting local stores to set up and after a few videos posted on social media went viral I’m now hosting hat bars for local people, bachelorettes, and corporate events.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the majority of my small business journey has been smooth. There have been small struggles here and there, but overall I can usually find an answer to things I run into along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My business is known best for my hat bar. I thrift items and work with other local businesses to find unique, one-of-a-kind, pieces for my hat bar.
I work with indigenous artists for silversmithing to incorporate Native American jewelry, leather workers, and such. I am most proud of being able to create pieces with my customers that they can love for a lifetime.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Support could look like spreading the word about my business. I am looking to connect with small business owners who have storefronts to do pop-ups to bring us both businesses.
