Meet Taylor Edoria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Edoria.

Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The passion for creating music came from mama’s singing on Saturday morning, had breakfast cooking and was waking us up for chores. Writing music started with poetry, and as I recall the first song I attempted to write was with a middle school friend of mine. Another one of my classmates use to walk me to the teachers we were cool with and we would sing this Rhianna cover, so around that time was when I started to study how to construct songs. Going into high school I was fortunate to have tested into a school focused on the arts, and that is where I received my core vocal teaching and introduction to music theory. I was approached by a local label at fifteen to be brought on as a recording artist and was able to come in contact with the mentors that help to keep me on track.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up as a young woman in the inner city definitely had its challenges. I was adulting by the age of 17 and had my first apartment by the age of 18, so the world of responsibility had become very real for me before I had planned on it at least. I spent more time working to sustain myself which allowed me to go through certain trials and tribulations that make me grateful instead of harp on what has happened to me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a vocalist and songwriter, since about the age of 11. I Consider myself a Writer/Songwriter as well as a Creative Director, with that being said the traditional artist road map would not fit me, being the versatile individual that I am. My approach is multi-disciplinary. The time that it has taken to become self aware and disciplined enough to take on the responsibility of being an artist in this capacity is what Im probably most proud of right now.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Life brings me joy. The spark in people’s eyes when they love someone. The smell of a good home cooked meal while the family is all in one room. The sound of the homies free styling to instrumentals.
