Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Prescott.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have been drawing as far back as I can remember. I use to create posters for my classmates in 2nd grade on occasion and sell them for like $0.25 or a $1.00. I took art classes in high school, where I learned about ceramics, pottery and art basics. I was also a part of the Art Club in high school. In college at the University of Arizona, I learned a lot about studying the human figure and learning to drawn the human body. Then I started taking painting classes and fell in love with color and working on canvas, and the rest was history. I am so grateful for the experiences that I have taken on this journey of my art, and can’t wait to see where my next painting takes me….
Please tell us about your art.
I create for myself and I create for others. I like to find something beautiful and capture that moment in a creative and colorful way. I have been blessed with a gift, and want to share that gift with as many people as possible. When people look at my work, I want to share something that moves you in some way, shape, or form. My subject matter may often show people; people in love, portraits, people playing music, people dancing. I also like to create narratives. There is always a story for each painting. I love capturing moments in my paintings that make you think about the good times, a great memory, or of someone you love. The creation process may be slightly different each time, but one thing that is consistent is it will always be full of color!
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
Artists are very sensitive people. Each artist has a different take on the events and the world around them and may or may not express their opinions in how they feel about the world around them in their work. I choose to show beauty and love in my work aside from some of the not so beautiful things that take place, unfortunately on a regular basis. I try to turn the negatives into positive, or show creatively in my work, being able to overcome adversity, in a colorful and beautiful way.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
