Meet Tammy Fuller of Kor Beauty Academy in Arrowhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Fuller.

Tammy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved here in 1998 from California. I immediately transferred my cosmetology license over to Arizona. After working in the North Valley for over 15 years as a successful cosmetologist, I found myself training young newly licensed cosmetologist to prepare them for work at my busy salon. But I found that these hairstylist were lacking the necessary basic training that they should have learned in their respective cosmetology schools that they previously attended.

With that, I then decided to get licensed as instructor to offer the diversity of skills that I felt that stylist were lacking to better prepare them for success. I wanted to see every student that I trained have the knowledge, skills and confidence to work with any type of hair. . And here I am 5 years later leading students to success in the cosmetology industry with passion and necessary skills. From branding, styling, cutting, coloring, braids and more.

What makes us Kor Beauty Academy so great is that our students are taught real life cosmetology along with a solid curriculum (Pivot Point)

Has it been a smooth road?
Becoming an accredited institution was not an easy haul. We had several bumps in the road that were costly and time consuming. To be exact it was over four years of hard work, sleepless nights and more. Throughout all of the obstacles we never gave up. And here we are on our fifth year of business and still changing lives one at a time.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kor Beauty Academy story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a licensed, accredited cosmetology school. We offer 1600 hours of training for students to prepare them for the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology Exam. We are also in the process of adding two new programs, 1000 hour Hairstyling program and a 650 hour Cosmetology Instructor program. These two new programs will be available on January 1 2018.

We are proud of the fact that our students are trained the right way to set them up for success immediately. Students that complete the program go on to have really successful careers in the end.

Kor Beauty Academy is known for smaller classes, which is great for one on one training.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The beauty industry in my opinion is recession proof. Even in the toughest time cosmetologist still thrive. I only see great things in our future. Manufacturers are getting more and more innovative with our tools and products so we are going to continue to grow and be great.
