Meet Susie Diamond of Rolling Rack Boutique in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susie Diamond.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Susie. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I went to fashion school right out of high school. Life happened, and I started a very successful career in banking. In your 20’s, it’s very easy to think if you are making good income that’s what you should be doing. However, I was never really fulfilled. Approaching my 40th birthday, my Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer and died ten months later.. He was my best friend, and my inspiration. I promised him I would fulfill my dreams. I quit my job shortly after, and Rolling Rack was born.

Fashion was different now, so I wanted to reach everyone very quickly with my edgy and fun style and really see what areas my vibe worked best in. We decided to start out Mobile, so we purchased a Uhaul and fully restored it. We quickly gained the reputation of Beverly Hills on Wheels. After six months of rolling around the Valley, and incredible response and support, we opened our first Brick and Mortar, RRB Collective in Old Town Scottsdale.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Initially, I had struggles with convincing many labels of my vision. When they heard I was launching a Boutique in a Truck, they didn’t exactly want their designs on it. I had to provide pictures to show them our vision as we built it. Once they saw where I was going with it, most of them gave me the green light. But I had to launch with a very limited offering of designers, which was hard for me. Now, I have over 20 requests a day to carry different designers, and I carry over 40 different labels, with more to come. I also have over 20 emails a day from different design houses requesting to be a part of our Brand, so we quickly overcame that. I believe if you work hard and stay the course you designed for yourself, you can overcome any struggle.

Please tell us about Rolling Rack Boutique.
I am most proud of hearing belly-deep laughter when customers enter my Mobile Truck or Store. I am very passionate about curating a collection of fashion with fun and edge, and accessories that push the envelope a bit. Even our fashions can get very bold, and that is what sets me apart. I’m not afraid to carry a top brand name frilly dress, right next to a graphic tee that is very bold in its message.

When people enter my store or truck, they are immediately greeted with something funny, which sets the tone for their experience. We intertwine the humor with fashion, so they know they are in for a unique, fun experience while getting that outfit that will make them look and feel amazing.  The Mobile truck gets so much attention, so it was important for me to carry that look on into my brick and mortar. Our signature selfie walls and faux fur ceilings let people know immediately they are shopping the Rolling Rack Brand., as well as our Sweet and Sassy Branding. We are truly a space that welcomes every human (and fur kid!). We want women to know you can dress in a way that features how you may be feeling that day, and it’s ok to want to be bold in a graphic tee one day, and a fashion icon in a dress that kills the next.

What role has luck had in your life and business?
I’ve been lucky in the sense that I’ve met some incredible people, from customers, to my models, employees, and even all the different Vendor Coordinators throughout the Valley that took chances with me. That is the only thing I will say I got lucky with. The rest is all me. I’ve worked hard to get my name out there, to get those news segments, to work with Scheana from Vanderpump Rules, that was all me. I’ve worked hard to create a brand that truly makes my customer happy, and that is what makes me happy. I won’t stop working hard to keep achieving next level status.
