Today we’d like to introduce you to Susanne Brent.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Susanne. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I have always loved tea. As a little girl, I would play with my mother’s china teacups, imagining fine ladies sipping tea from the gold-rimmed, flowered and elegant cups. I never imagined reading tea leaves. I only thought tea leaf reading was done by gypsies in long skirts who looked like Cher.
A few years ago, a friend told me about a tea leaf reading class taught by two women psychics. I was immediately intrigued and drawn to the idea of telling the future by patterns written in the tea leaves. And did I mention I always loved tea? After the one day class, taught by two wise, intuitive women, I began having a tea leaf reading parties for friends in Phoenix.
In my home or friends’ homes. The parties were relaxing and, I hope, inspiring. A lot of laughter, sharing, and yes even tears, happens when I read people’s tea leaves. It takes time to ask a question, drink the tea and then deciphers the leaves. I traveled with my cups and tea leaves to California, Oregon, and Colorado, reading leaves at various events.
I taught tea leaf reading classes, too. I began reading tea leaves just because I loved tea and, cliché as it might sound, I find I now love to share my pleasure and passion for not just the tea, but with the leaves, and how they can foretell the future. And it’s a heck of a lot of fun, too! For both myself and the participants.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
At first, and even today, I never focused on producing a lot of income with tea leaf reading. Sure it would be nice, but that was never the main goal. So that took off a lot of pressure. I started reading tea leaves because I love to listen to people’s stories, consider questions asked, and then look to the tea leaves for answers. I have had some challenges with introducing tea leaf reading to new age shops or tea houses due to space constraints.
Many shop owners are eager to have a tea leaf reading classes, but there is not always the room to do so. What works best is having people to my home, or bring my cups and leaves, to private residences. I think because I’ve had very few struggles, I believe I’m on the right path. And the money part is secondary.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
There is nothing comparable as far as I know. I’m definitely specialized. Most the time I need to educate people about what tea leaf reading actually involves. My service sets me apart because I’m unusual with little or no competition. I’m proud when I make people happy, insightful, thoughtful about his or her future.
We all are looking for answers about what choices to make next, or how a situation might be resolved, or just what to expect in our future, and the tea leaf readings offer hope, comfort and very often joy. I’m always proud when someone tells me that the reading I did was spot on!
What were you like growing up?
Curious. I always had a lot of questions. I was always asking why. And my outgoing personality allowed me to meet a wide variety of people, throughout my life, to ask why. And also where, when and how. I had the need to understand the world.
I have a journalism degree, and I am a published writer, too. Writing is very solitary and even as a little girl I wanted to be out in the world playing and engaging with people. So reading tea leaves allows me to satisfy my need for social interaction which I don’t get from writing.
Some people get drained from a lot of social interaction. Even as a child, and still today, I was invigorated by having a lot of friends and activities. I always enjoyed being active and learning something new. Then and now. In many ways, my curiosity has only grown stronger with the years. I never tire of listening to people’s stories.
