Meet Susan Potje of Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Potje.

Susan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The Celebration of Fine Art was originally founded by my father, Tom Morrow. My husband, Jake and I thrilled to be second generation owners of something we are very passionate about. It is a place where art lovers and artists connect first hand. Visitors get to enjoy the creative process happen right before their eyes. The artists are all on hand to share their thoughts, inspirations, and process with the viewer. The creative energy and passion can be felt and seen throughout our 40,000 square foot exhibit space. 2019 will mark our 28th year of this great experience. The dates for 2019 are January 12 – March 24; open daily 10 am to 6 pm.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m not sure that any road to success is totally smooth, but that is what makes it so worthwhile and special. One of our biggest challenges is when we have to relocate our site venue. We put a great deal of infrastructure to make this venue extraordinary. So, each time we have moved, we go through a permit process and building process to provide a solid asphalt base for our tent to sit upon and we install water, sewer and electrical to offer a great experience for our artists and our visitors. Fortunately, we have some great systems in place to help us navigate this process and we have an amazing team to help us execute it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Celebration of Fine Art – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Celebration of Fine Art is the premier art show experience which allows art lovers to stand at the elbow of the artists and watch the work in progress, discover the story behind it and learn how it is done. Each of the 100 renowned and emerging artists has a working artist studio beside their gallery-like display in the 40,000 square feet of exhibit tent space. They settle in and make it their own unique place for the full 10 weeks that the show runs each year. This juried, invitational show and art sale are where art lovers and artists connect. It enables visitors from around the globe to admire and acquire an unsurpassed selection of artwork in all mediums and styles. We are known for having excellent quality and a wide variety of styles of art. We are also known for being a very welcoming and energizing community. It truly is an experience like no other. We are most proud of the way that our artists interact with the curious visitors and how they deeply support each other in being their best. We are grateful to have been part of this great community for 29 years.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Each year, we strive to be better than the year before. We are always looking for ways to expand our marketing reach and invite more people to become a part of our “Celebration Family”. We look forward to continued growth and to welcoming and inspiring more art lovers!
