Meet Susan Brinegar of Western State Bank in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Brinegar.

Susan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2006, I became a divorced mother of two with a new career in Real Estate. When you are faced with a situation like that, you find you will do almost anything to keep food on the table and keep your home. I worked six or seven days a week and still made my children feel they were the most important things in my life. It took a village of support from my sister and friends.

In 2012, someone in the industry offered me a job as a loan officer and my new career got underway. I was excited for a new challenge! Once both my children graduated high school, they moved out of Alaska (where we lived) to attend college. Nothing was keeping me in the cold, so I decided to move to Arizona!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have been in Arizona for a little over two years. The biggest challenge is starting in a new place. It takes time, and I am working to meet people and show them why I am a loyal business partner they can count on. As people get to know me, I know my business will grow and I always strive to help others grow their success as well. I always say “DON”TGIVE UP!

Please tell us about your business.
I am a mortgage loan officer at Western State Bank. Our slogan is “Your Hometown Bank” and it is so true. I have never felt so welcomed by a company. We get to know our customers and build relationships.

I’m proud of the excellent customer service we provide. I know many people say that, but I get invested in my clients. I want the transaction to go as smoothly as possible. I am passionate about assisting Veterans, people relocating to Arizona and first-time home buyers. I also service seasoned homeowners and buyers as well as clients looking for investment properties.

Overall, I enjoy helping others, whether it is giving my time in the community or helping someone who does not think they can ever own a home. Stop by my Chandler office sometime – I would love to meet you and show you how we operate.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have had many influential people throughout my life. My sister Fitzy has played a major role. The person who brought me into lending, Colleen Houston, and co-worker, Gwen Greenup, have taught me so much in the lending world. My friend Dave Waltzer (Opes Financial Solutions) has introduced me to many people in Chandler. Right now, my biggest cheerleader is my friend Angie Poirier (Tatum Insurance), who I am excited to do business with and volunteer alongside in the community.
