Meet SUNTWIST of Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to SUNTWIST.

SUNTWIST, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Suntwist started in a dorm room, making loop tracks and demos for the love of music. We released our first song because our friends wanted to listen to this one demo and we got good feedback. We just kept writing, making, and releasing until people we didn’t know were telling us we were doing something right (which was a great feeling). We started to reach out to people around the valley, looking to play our music to anyone who would listen. We got into contact with some fantastic local bands and started playing as much as we could. Playing at The Rebel Lounge this month combined with the release of our EP has us excited for whats to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve definitely come across some challenges, the biggest one being that we all met in college and were from every corner of the country. Making summer break a challenge, we are still able to plan for the future and schedule songs so we can stay active releasing music, videos, and content even when we’re not with each other.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We make indie surf rock music and we definitely have a distinct sound. Steady drums combined with a fast baseline, chorus guitar, and wide vocals is what defines our sound. Something that sets us apart from the rest is our workflow of recoding, mixing, and mastering everything our selves besides our drums. It has created this all hands on deck culture within our band and everyone has a say on everything which creates the authentic feel you hear.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
