Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Heideman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Summer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hello, I am an Award-winning Newborn and Family portrait photographer, and the owner of Summer Elizabeth Photography.

Summer Elizabeth photography is known for bright, warm, colorful, emotional and rich images, years of experience and specialized training in newborn, children and family portraiture. I have a hybrid style of photographing my subjects and focus on both posed and candid moments during each session.

I am a natural light photographer, I love to photograph sessions in outdoor locations especially during that beautiful golden hours.

I also have a studio located in N Phoenix, focusing specifically on Maternity and Newborn Studio Portraiture.

I am also a mother of three wonderful children and started taking photos of them since they were born.
I photograph my children often because as most of you know, it happens in the blink of an eye. I want to capture the memories, the details – both big and small – before they are gone… And I want to do it beautifully. So, over the years, I have made it a point to participate in lots of workshops, and additional training so as to improve my skills.

Just like every business, it takes a lot of time and dedication to run, but it is my passion, and all the struggles are worth it.

As a photographer, I love being to grow with my clients; having a long term relationship with my clients is so important to me. Capturing the journey from marriage, to pregnancy, newborn and baby is just incredible and I am so lucky to do what I love.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road!

I am a full-time single mother, and I am trying to build my own business as an entrepreneur. My life is constant chaos as I am always balancing my work-life balance between being a photographer and a mom, this is often very overwhelming.

Photography is not just about getting out there and taking photos, there is a lot more than that involved. Photography is an investment! You’re right – it’s not an easy discipline! It is a long journey. I have taken many workshops and mentored trying to improve myself. Also, Equipment can be very expensive, and the cost of running business are also a great factor. There will always be high and low days for every business I am sure, but all in all it does not matter what we all do, or how difficult things can be, I am sure we all have goals and dreams to chase, so I always have to keep pushing myself and telling myself not to give up. Do what you love and love what you do, right! Business and motherhood, I am sure you may find they are similar in milestones!

I am located in N Phoenix, Arizona and serve Phoenix, Scottsdale, Anthem, Glendale, Paradise Valley, Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert and surrounding areas.

I also have a studio located in N Phoenix, focusing specifically on Maternity and Newborn Studio Photography.

I’ve found motherhood, children and family to be the most precious gifts this life has given me and I strive to find and create beauty in those relationships daily. It’s that inspiration and gratitude that enables me to seek and capture moments for the families/clients that I get to meet.

I provide a full-service experience, it is my goal to make sure you not only walk away with beautiful photographs but also cherished memories of this most special time in your life.

What were you like growing up?
I was born and raised in Thailand. I have two younger brothers, I am the oldest. My parents, family and all my relative still living there in Thailand. I am here with my kids. My family is very close together and my parents are always very supportive.

I am bright and cheerful although from time to time, I am told I can be hard to understand as being from Thailand, English is not my first language.

I always on social media and I enjoy watching movies and news on youtube. I love Thai food, Mexican food and seafood. I love spicy foods a lot. I like to travel, every time when I have time off, I always take my kids out to do something fun as a family. I always find ways to get creative, and besides taking photos as a business, I enjoy participating in style shoot outs with locals as well.
