Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Lehner.
Stephen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I earned a piano tuning certificate from the American School of Piano Tuning in 1992 while in Nashville, TN where I also earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Belmont University.
Initially an aural tuner, extensive work in recording studios and concert halls convinced me that state-of-the-art electronic tuners are useful to check accuracy and drift while changing string tension. I currently use the Saunderson Accutuner IV to enhance my aural tuning.
In Nashville I rebuilt Steinway grand pianos for James Arledge and serviced music industry clients, including the Nashville Symphony, The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman auditorium and many Nashville recording studios.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the beginning you have no customers. The best advertising is word of mouth and so it takes time.
