Meet Stephanie Wagner of Decadent Macaron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Wagner.

Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a sweet tooth and a love for macarons. My husband has rheumatoid arthritis, and after going off medication he learned to control side effects by changing his diet and eliminating gluten. Lucky for me, macarons are gluten free so it was something we both could enjoy guilt-free! After getting married my husband and I realized there aren’t very many places in Gilbert that make macarons, so if we wanted them we would have to venture out of our little bubble to find them. We decided to teach ourselves the art of baking french macarons. After a lot of trial and error, we created a recipe that we loved! I started giving them away to friends and family as gifts around the holidays. Shortly after word spread that I made them, I started receiving orders.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a lot of learning as I go. Currently tackling e-commerce and the wedding industry have been my greatest feat. I still feel like a fish out of water at times, but I have connected with some great people in the Phoenix area to help guide me along the way.

Decadent Macaron – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in baked to order French macarons. All of our macarons are completely customizable to fit any theme. We put a lot of thought and effort into every order from the local ingredients to the presentation. We are currently sold in two different coffee shops in the Valley. Sweetz Brew and Provision Coffee. I think what I am most proud of is seeing everyone truly love what I create, and getting to be apart of so many special occasions such as baby showers, weddings and engagements I feel so humbled to be apart of so many joyous days! I think what sets us apart from other bakeries is our special shapes. If someone has a unique idea from macaron shaped lips to dinosaurs we can make it happen!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There have been so many amazing moments in my career so far! Having my macarons available at two local shops in the valley, and getting published is several wedding blogs has been so amazing!
