Meet Stephanie Nguyen of Modern Milk in North Scottsdale and Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Nguyen.

Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Working as a labor and delivery RN and then as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, I realized that there wasn’t much support available for breastfeeding moms. I started Modern Milk with this goal in mind – to provide a supportive place to help these nursing moms. Modern Milk quickly grew and we began adding more and more classes and services for new parents unrelated to breastfeeding. We soon realized that we had created a community concept and not just a breastfeeding center.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think starting a business is ever a smooth road! Being that this is a small, family-owned business (my husband and I) one of our biggest struggles has been juggling work and family. With 2 young daughters, we try to find a balance as much as possible. If not, they quickly remind us to “stop talking about Modern Milk!”.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
At Modern Milk, we are all about moms and babies (and dads, too!). We believe that a happy mom makes a happy baby, and we are here to help you navigate all of the challenges of motherhood. Breastfeeding support, pre/post natal education, fitness classes, and a curated mom and baby boutique are some of the services we offer. We believe moms need to work together and support each other in this business called motherhood. Out of this idea grew our brand, Namomste. Reflecting the message behind “Namaste,” the Namomste movement embodies an attitude of unity and motherhood.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Modern Milk would do well in any city where there are new parents! If someone was just starting out, I would recommend finding a city where a lot of babies of born. 🙂
