Meet Stephanie Lieb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lieb.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a Phoenix native and I have a bachelor’s degree in human communication from Arizona State University. Since graduating from college, I worked in public relations and event management.

After taking countless photos during my career, I realized my true gift and passion – and started Serenity Now PHX Photography at the end of 2018. I specialize in photographing humans, animals and products.

My motto in life is “peace, love, happiness – and pups!” You can most often find me exploring with my two rescue pups: Asher and Sadie. While I was on a road trip in August 2019, I started the #PupsOfPHX project. Through the Instagram and Facebook pages for Pups of PHX I share stories about the pups – and their humans – that live in Phoenix. I also share information about pup-friendly places, adoptable pups, pup services and more pup-related content! Through this project I would also like to start hosting pup-friendly events and raising money for pup rescues and services in the Valley.

I have always had a dream of being a talk show host, so I started the “Gabbin’ with Mavens” podcast in October 2019. It’s a weekly podcast where I interview a maven of his or her field so that listeners can hopefully learn a little something along the way!

Managing these three brands keeps me busy, but I love that I have created a career where I get to help people and animals while also being able to be flexible and creative.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
All three of my brands are still new but I feel that I have the interest, skills and drive to keep them going long-term, and keep them uniquely “me”. Equipment and marketing costs have probably been the biggest hurdle – but also necessary!

Overall I have received positive feedback on Serenity Now PHX Photography, but there are so many talented photographers in the Valley and they all have different specialties, so I am currently working on better marketing, networking, partnerships – as well as training and education.

#PupsOfPHX started as a fun, passion project to get to know other pups (and their humans) in town – and people have been overwhelmingly supportive and excited to tag us in their photos, have their pups featured on the page, and follow along! There are some serious pup-lovers in the Valley! I am excited to see how it continues to take shape.

As for my “Gabbin’ with Mavens” podcast, I have enjoyed it so much already, though I now understand how much research, focus, organization and consistency it takes to ensure that I record and publish a podcast episode on a weekly basis – and land great guests to come on. Oh and I’ve learned so much about audio editing already – I deeply respect people that do that for a career! It takes so much time and patience.

Serenity Now PHX Photography, Pups of PHX, and “Gabbin’ with Mavens” podcast – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Serenity Now PHX Photography – I specialize in photographing humans, animals and products. I occasionally shoot events but I prefer private photo sessions. I have been told that I have a great eye – and that I have a special talent for directing my clients to look their best, while also having fun.

#PupsOfPHX – I hope that I am becoming known as “that pup mom in Phoenix” that wants to meet and promote all of the other pups – and their humans – in my community. I also plan to use my event planning expertise to have some pup-friendly fun while also raising money for local pup charities.

“Gabbin’ with Mavens” is a weekly podcast where I interview a maven of his or her field so that listeners can get to know the guests’ backgrounds and hopefully learn a little something along the way! Through social media, I encourage people to send me suggestions for guests to have on, and questions to ask them. I have been told that I prepare well, people feel at ease when I chat with and interview them – and that I ask good questions!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I always get excited when I get nice feedback on my photography, pups project and podcast. I hope that my proudest career moment is still yet to come!
